The Harrisburg Chapter of The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania . The chapter was Founded in May of 1894.
131 Years of Service! We have 2 Real Daughters who were Sisters, they are our founding members. Our Matrons melted down their treasures of silver and pewter and tore their bed linen into bandages and stinted themselves and their fam
ilies in order to feed our Patriots. That majestic generation is gone and has passed down their Legacy to us in Harrisburg Chapter, NSDAR. We volunteer in various capacities as Individuals and as a Group. We contribute many hours of volunteerism to Harrisburg and the surrounding areas from this tradition. We meet monthly from September to June. We have several meetings that will take place on weekends and other places around Harrisburg for special programs we do. Harrisburg has never had a place to call home, but in 2018 we now have a HOME in Hummelstown called the Henderson House that was gifted to the Chapter. We fondly love and cherish the Harrisburg Chapter House. The DAR, founded in 1890 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization dedicated to Historical Preservation, passionate about Education for our youth of America & love for our Country through Patriotism. DAR members volunteer millions of service hours annually in their local communities including supporting active duty military personnel and assisting veterans. DAR awards thousands of dollars in scholarships. For 135 years, members of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution have dedicated themselves to historic preservation, the promotion of education, and encouragement of patriotic endeavors across America.
