Our glow parties are quickly approaching.

First is Friday's event for grades 3-5 (6:00 to 8:00 p.m.).

Then on Saturday, we have an event for grades K-2 (5:00 to 7:00 p.m.).

Both are held at the school. Please enter through the Reily St. entrance.

These are closed events: only students from the Pennsylvania STEAM Academy are permitted.

Each student must have a responsible adult in the building at all times. Each student and adult must have a ticket.

Tickets will be available at the door for $5 and may be paid for with cash, check, Venmo, PayPal, or credit card (no Cash App). Sometimes technology breaks, so it's best to come with backup cash.

We'll also have a concession stand, glow goodies, and Pennsylvania STEAM Academy apparel for sale. All proceeds go toward the PTA's fundraising efforts to keep field trips free for families.

To be successful, we'll need many volunteers. First, we need volunteers during the day Friday to decorate. Do you know how much time it takes to paper over tall windows on a wall longer than many houses? It's a lot, but many hands lighten the load. So if you have a flexible work schedule, are a stay-at-home parent, are self-employed, or are retired, please lend a hand on Friday. It's extra helpful if you could bring a ladder and some painter's tape to supplement what we already have.

Good afternoon, Pennsylvania STEAM Academy families and faculty!

Our Parent-Teacher Association meets this evening. If you aren't aware, the PTA organizes family-friendly events and raises funds to support students and faculty, such as by paying for field trips and extra teacher supplies. We're a volunteer-led organization, so the more volunteers we have, the more we can do!

The meeting will be from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the school's lunchroom. Please enter at the Reily Street entrance. Refreshments will be provided. It's family-friendly, too, so bring the kids! Plus, each attendee will receive an engagement punch card. Each time you attend a PTA or Empower U meeting or volunteer at a PTA event, your card will be marked. Each filled card enters you to win a prize.

We have a backlog of minutes and financial reports to approve.

Also attached is a flyer for upcoming PTA events. Note the do-over of our January fundraiser at Trindle Bowl that had only a few intrepid (or reckless) participants because of a snowstorm. We're giving it another try on Sunday, April 6 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.

🗳️The nominating committee of the PTA have two positions available to be filled. Each position will serve two (2) years on the PTA.

Who says pancakes must be a breakfast food?

We sure don't! Pile those plates high tonight at IHOP at 4002 Union Deposit Road from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

It's a fundraiser for the PTA, so know that the restaurant will donate 20% of your bill.

We wanted to let you know of an important event coming to the Pennsylvania STEAM Academy that isn't organized by the PTA or the School, but instead by the American Literacy Corporation.

Each March, the ALC coordinates reading in schools in the Harrisburg area, now called the 500 Men and Women Reading Week and Career Exploration.

The event comes to STEAM on Thursday, March 6. It starts with opening ceremonies at 7:15 a.m. at Camp Curtin Academy (2900 N. 6th St.). After heading to the school and reading to up to three classrooms, you're welcome to attend a free luncheon at 10:15 at Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church (2447 Green St.).

If all the STEAM slots are filled, it's still worthwhile to read to any student in any school, if you're able to do it.

Thanks to several volunteers, we prepared nearly all orders for candy grams last night. We're still meeting Wednesday evening, starting at 5:30, to prepare the remainder including orders that come in by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

If you didn't yet submit your order, or maybe you forgot to include someone, this is your last chance. Remember: parents don't need to be the senders and your student doesn't need to be the recipient.

Has your child been particularly helped by a teacher or other staff member? Are you a teacher who has benefited from the mentoring of a fellow teacher? Are you a parent who wants your child to give you something just so you can enjoy it? Are you a teacher who wants to thank a parent for volunteering or providing snacks? Do you want to thank your child's friend just for being a good friend? Does a grandparent or aunt want to thank your child? Forward this message. No matter who, it's a small token that says a big thing, while also helping the PTA's fundraising efforts.

As a reminder, you may send cash in a sealed envelope marked PTA with your child. You may send a check written to Pennsylvania STEAM Academy PTA. You may use PayPal or Venmo (). Our Cash App account does not presently work, so it's not an available method of payment.

If you do not have access to any of the above payments or you're sharing with friends or family to send a candy gram remotely, they may be purchased online, though we ask this to be used as a last resort because credit card fees eat into the fundraising aspects of the event.
