On Friday, Harrisburg High School’s Plant Science class and FFA members began work on their garden demonstration bed at Main Street Learning Park. Poinsett County Extension Agent & Staff Chair was led a hands-on demonstration and discussion over cover crops and ecosystems while students pulled the fall & winter cover crop plots supplied by Eagle Seed. Make sure to come by Main Street Learning Park throughout the spring & summer & check out the Harrisburg High School FFA garden bed!

The Poinsett County Extension Service hosted a Healthy Eating: Field to Fork- Homemade Pizza class on Wednesday, led by Arkansas State University Dietetics Intern, Elizabeth Dungan. Participants learned the importance of eating a balanced diet that incorporates foods from each of the 5 food groups, & created quick & easy individual homemade pizzas. While their pizzas baked, participants joined Poinsett County Extension Agriculture Agent & Staff Chair, Michael Chaney out at Main Street Learning Park to gets hands-on experience planting Rainbow Sweet Peppers and Hybrid Big Boy Tomatoes plants in a raised garden bed. Stop by Main Street Learning Park through the summer & check out these pepper and tomato plants from the Harrisburg FFA.
