Since May 1974, WIC has helped support healthier starts for Pennsylvania women, infants, and young children.

For more than 50 years, the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) has connected families to nutritious foods, breastfeeding support, nutrition education, and other critical resources during the earliest years of life.

Programs like WIC continue to play an important role in supporting healthy child development and family well-being across Pennsylvania.

Early Intervention builds lifelong foundations and changes lives, but in Pennsylvania, the Infant & Toddler Early Intervention system is underfunded by nearly 40%, which impacts access to services and puts strain on the workforce that supports young children and their families. On EI Visibility Day, we’re sharing the data to help shine a light on what’s needed to strengthen the system. Early Intervention changes lives, and today, we were proud to bring that message to the Capitol.

On EI Visibility Day, our team joined partners and advocates to highlight the importance of Pennsylvania’s Infant & Toddler Early Intervention program and its impact on children and families across the state. From supporting healthy development to connecting families with critical services early on, EI helps lay the foundation for lifelong success.

We’re grateful to be part of this work and to stand alongside so many dedicated advocates pushing for stronger investments in Early Intervention.

We are in the Capital today educating and advocating for investments in infant/toddler Early Intervention. PA’s Infants and Toddlers and their families deserve timely, quality services, and the
providers who serve them deserve to be fairly compensated. A recent rate study found
Infant/Toddler EI is underfunded by nearly 40%. We need sustained investment, starting
with a $14 million increase in this year’s state budget. Please contact your PA legislators
and ask them to support Infant/Toddler EI.
