Healthier waterways, stronger coastal communities and more resilient habitats are on the way. This week, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and NFWF announced $6.9 million supporting 33 locally led conservation projects across the Chesapeake Bay watershed through the Chesapeake WILD program.

These investments will:

🐟 Restore fish and wildlife habitat in the nation’s largest estuary
🏕 Improve access to outdoor recreation
🌧 Build community resilience to floods and other natural hazards
🤝 Strengthen conservation partnerships throughout the region

Rolling Ridge Conservancy works with local hunters to manage the deer population in our woods. We value our relationship with the hunters, who provide a necessary service in the absence of predators. Deer overpopulation leaves deer unhealthy and malnourished, and over-browsing has decimated the forest understory. Hunters harvest deer safely and thoughtfully and use the venison for food.

Conservancy trails are closed from November 24 through December 31.
