JAF has donated to Make-A-Wish for years. I have been trying to keep Jackie and many others' memories alive by paying it forward. This year I am on the Committee for the 2016 Walk for Wishes Annapolis and I'd love to have some more members on my team. These kids are truly amazing and I am so honored to be able to walk and raise money to support their cause. Just as many of my family and friends have raised money for JAF and other cancer organizations over the years.

It's October and everyone gets in the "Pink" mode. Wear pink, but also donate to cancer research. Do your research on various charities and what the money actually goes to! There can't be a cure if we don't research the disease and find out what can stop it. Research is the way to go!

As a daughter of a woman who lost her battle with BC after a long 7 years, I now face the decision of being tested and what comes with the results. Many insurance companies will pay for the testing of you have a strong family history. Aetna PPO, Health Network, my insurance carrier, will cover this testing with proper documentation. It's worth a read!

A fact sheet about the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, what to do if a person tests positive for one of these alterations, and consequences of genetic testing.

In 2001, we lost a good friend, Jackie Small Agnes, to breast cancer. Shortly after her death, several of Jackie's friends created the Jackie Agnes Foundation to raise money to donate to various LOCAL breast cancer causes and established a scholarship program at Jackie's Alma Matter.

The proceeds are donated to help people afflicted with breast cancer. Additionally, the Foundation gives scholarships to 8th grade graduates from St. Francis of Assisi Elementary School (Jackie's Alma Matter). The scholarships are available to students continuing their education at Philadelphia Archdiocesan High School.

*in the past it has been a tradition to hold a Halloween Benefit in Jackie's Memory. This is something the board hopes to host again. In the mean time, the Foundation is still in need of donations to continue to help those affected by this disease.*
