Lake Deerwood Community Day of Prayer
Day of Prayer & Thanksgiving – May 17
The National Day of Prayer is observed on May 17. We encourage all Lake Deerwood residents to set aside this day as a special time at home for prayer, reflection, thanksgiving, and rededication—as we look ahead to America’s 250th anniversary.
✝️ A Heritage of Prayer
From the earliest days of our nation, Americans have turned to prayer.
In 1775, the Continental Congress called the colonies to unite in a day of “public humiliation, fasting, and prayer,” seeking God’s guidance and protection during a time of great uncertainty.
Through the Revolutionary era, presidential proclamations, and into modern times, this tradition has continued—formally established by Congress in 1952 and observed annually each May.
It remains a lasting reminder of faith, gratitude, and hope for the future.

🌎 A Nation United in Prayer Today
Across the United States, Americans continue this tradition—joining in prayer at home, in churches, and in communities.
As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary, a special gathering will take place at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on May 17.
🙏 A Call for Our Community
On May 17, we invite every Lake Deerwood resident to pause at home—individually or with family—to reflect and pray.
Join with neighbors and friends across the nation in:
Giving thanks and praise to God for 250 years of His providence over the United States
Praying that God will bless and protect America for the next 250 years
Remembering the high price that has been paid for the freedoms we enjoy today
Rededicating our country as One Nation under God
In speech, song and quiet reflection, remember the people, sacrifices, and defining moments through which our nation has been shaped.
“As we remember God’s faithfulness through the years, may we also look ahead with grateful hearts, trusting Him to guide our homes, our community, and our nation in the days to come.”
