I spent the holiday weekend installing paintings for the upcoming Summer Salon in the Brownstone Gallery. For me that means hanging a painting and then moving it a few inches or across the room because it might just look a little better over there. This corner is that spot where I can’t help but notice that there is art around every corner. This install will be ongoing for a couple more weeks with more paintings and ceramics being delivered next weekend.

Artist delivered several oil paintings to the Brownstone Gallery yesterday. Sage’ work is informed by nature. She paints imaginary landscapes composed of elements that reflect floral shapes, grasses, weeds, and the changing hues of the sun and sky. These paintings feel perfect for the summer salon which will be on view June and July. As usual we will host private viewings, and conversations with the participating artists. dm to be added to the guest list or schedule a time to stop by.

Building a gallery wall around the bookcase with works on consignment, and acquisitions. I’m leaving enough space for the pieces to breathe and avoiding a horizontal grid pattern which hopefully will allow for flexibility in adding new pieces and taking away sold ones. We will see how it transforms over time.

Artworks on this wall were created by Anna Thornhill, and a self portrait of yours truly.

Today is Denim Day. A march over the Brooklyn Bridge reminds us that violence against women and girls are the crime statistics that are consistently up while other crimes are down. I think that when the NYPD talks about crime going down they are not transparent about violence against women.

Celebrating Denim Day here with and her series of work.
