Join us for SCOUT ADVENTURE DAY!

We’re hitting the road Saturday, October 3, for an adventure at Bays Mountain Park & Planetarium in Kingsport, Tennessee!

Bays Mountain is a 3,788-acre nature preserve featuring a beautiful 44-acre lake, miles of trails, a state-of-the-art planetarium, and habitats featuring native wildlife. It’s the perfect place for Scouts to explore, learn, and have a whole lot of fun!

And we’ve got a great day planned:

🌌 Planetarium show — Explore the wonders of the night sky.

🚤 Barge ride — Get out on Bays Mountain Lake and learn about the wildlife and ecology of the area.

🐺 Wolf program — Get up close to these incredible native predators and learn about their behavior, habitats, and role in the ecosystem.

🐍 Snake education program — Meet some of the park’s scaly residents and learn more about these often-misunderstood creatures.

⚜️🐦 Pack 149 Builds Skills, Friendships & Birdhouses! 🐦⚜️

We had a fantastic night at Pack 149 as we welcomed some new faces and continued working toward our Bobcat achievements!

We kicked things off with a fun meet-and-greet challenge. Veteran Cub Scouts paired up with our newest members, introduced themselves, and then worked together to find the 12 points of the Scout Law hidden around our meeting space at First Presbyterian Harlan.

Once all 12 principles were found, our veteran Scouts helped the new members put them in the correct order as we recited the Scout Law together. It was a great way for our experienced Scouts to step up and help welcome the newest members of our Pack!

🐦 Then it was time to BUILD!

Thanks to the generosity of Dr. Timothy Jenkel, Pack 149 was able to purchase birdhouse kits for our Scouts. Tonight, they got some great hands-on experience assembling the pieces and beginning to transform them into beautiful birdhouses that will eventually become part of our Huff Park Gazebo Project!

We didn't quite have enough time to finish the construction or get them painted, so we'll be picking up where we left off next week. We can't wait to see what our Scouts create!

Next week we'll also be completing an activity focused on the Cub Scout Oath as we continue working through important parts of the Bobcat achievement.

🌟 Missed tonight's meeting? It's NOT too late!
We still have a couple of birdhouse kits available, and there's plenty of time for new Scouts to join us and work toward completing portions of the Bobcat achievement, including learning the Scout Oath, Scout Law, Scout sign, salute, and more.

🔵 Pack Meeting! 🔵

We’re back after taking Labor Day off! Come out Monday to our weekly pack meeting! We’re going to mark off our Bobcat Achievement with some activities and get to know some new scouts that are joining the pack!

6:00-7:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Harlan Church! See you all there!

🚨⚜️ PACK 149 DOMINATED BLUE COURTS! ⚜️🚨

What a great evening for Cub Scout Pack 149 and Troop 149 at the newly renovated Blue Courts!

Our Scouts had a blast enjoying the new park, playing together, and meeting families from around the community. We also had the opportunity to hand out information about both of our Scouting America programs in Harlan and talk with so many families interested in what Scouting has to offer.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by, asked questions, played with our Scouts, and took the time to learn more about Pack 149 and Troop 149! We hope to see many of you again as we continue growing Scouting in Harlan County. ❤️

Collection Night at Scouts was a pretty great reminder that every kid has something they’re passionate about! ❤️

We saw rocks, swords, sirens, fossils, mini figurines, Pokémon cards, and Titan 13 action figures.

Here’s to curiosity, collecting, sharing, and letting kids be unapologetically enthusiastic about the things that make them happy!

Join us for a special Recruitment Night for both Cub Scout Pack 149 and Scout Troop 149!

⚜️ Our regular meeting time for both Scouting America programs

For this special meeting, Scouts are invited to bring a collection they've been building over the years and set it up for others to see. Scouts will have the opportunity to talk about their collections, explain what makes them interesting, and share something they're passionate about with other Scouts and families.

We'll also talk about some of the elective adventures and achievements available to the different Cub Scout ranks, giving Scouts opportunities to work on interests outside of our regular planned activities for the year.

And if you're interested in joining Scouting, you're invited too! Bring a collection you've been working on and come showcase it with us. You don't have to already be a Scout to participate!
