Last week, our Harlan Teen Club members had an unforgettable adventure during Ocean X STEAM Camp!

As part of the week's activities, our teens traveled to the amazing Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies in Gatlinburg, where they explored incredible marine life from around the world. From colorful tropical fish and fascinating jellyfish to sharks and rays, members had the opportunity to learn about ocean ecosystems, conservation, and the science behind aquatic habitats.

Experiences like these help bring STEAM learning to life by connecting classroom concepts with real-world exploration. We are proud of our members for their curiosity, enthusiasm, and willingness to dive into new learning opportunities!

The Harlan Teen Club will be closed this week. Members who want to attend Club can attend at our Cawood Ledford Boys & Girls Club of Harlan County site. There will be transportation home for Harlan Teen Club members on Tuesday and Thursday. We apologize for any inconvenience.

We’re so proud of our teens at the Harlan Teen Club for spreading gratitude in such a creative way!

This week, members made thank-you artwork for one of our generous donors as a small way to show how much their support truly means to our Club and our kids. Moments like these remind us that kindness, creativity, and appreciation go a long way.

Last week, our teens had an awesome day of fun and leaning!

Our girls enjoyed a SPA Day that focused on S – Support, P – Positivity, and A – Accountability. They washed their hair, painted nails, styled hair, used face masks and moisturizers, and talked about what it means to be a leader.

The boys had a great time too, staying in the game room with Mr. Jacob for an E-sports tournament bracket that kept the competition friendly and fun!

This special day was part of our SMART Girls and Passport to Manhood programs, with a focus on social and emotional learning. We’re so proud of our teens for growing, learning, and supporting each other every step of the way.

September at the Harlan Teen Club was packed with fun and learning!

Ms. Kim stopped by to help us grow our knowledge of SEL (Social Emotional Learning), and Mr. Jacob introduced us to our new 3D printer — we created tons of awesome 3D-printed fidgets and more!

We also had an Esports-only day, where members explored all the amazing technology our Club has to offer.

Wellness Wednesday with Ms. Lacey was a hit! Members worked in teams to act out two skits — one showing a positive response and one showing a negative response to different situations. It was a great way to learn about decision-making and understanding how our choices affect outcomes.

We wrapped up the month by creating our very own “What I Want to Be When I Grow Up” gallery wall! Members shared their future dreams and the steps they plan to take to achieve them.

We’ve been busy (and having a blast!) at the Harlan Teen Club these past few weeks!

Last week, Mr. Jacob kicked things off by introducing our members to rug making, while Ms. Lacey led our very first Wellness Wednesday. Members practiced writing positive affirmations, tried yoga, did a silent writing exercise, and learned about the different dimensions of wellness.

On Tuesday, we focused on healthy habits. Members worked in groups to create colorful collages about MyPlate topics like whole grains, dairy, protein, vegetables, and fruits.

We’ve also been hitting the gym, getting active, playing e-sports, and even learning about 3D printing!

It’s been a busy but exciting start to our Teen Club activities, and we can’t wait to keep the fun going!
