Shelby County American Legions and VFW Post 941 members would like to replace the large flag used for home football games at Merrill Field. This flag has been displayed at home games since 1973, during that time it has witnessed approximately 270 games in which the Harlan football team has made 38 playoff appearances and won 12 state championships. This flag represents all the veterans and their families who have given service to this great nation and it is time for its retirement.
If you would like to donate toward the purchase of a new flag, Troop 90 Boy Scouts are now “passing the bucket” for donations. You could also visit with your local American Legion and VFW members or Kelli at the Vets Auditorium to donate as well. Thank you for being part of this unique and long lasting tradition!

The Catholic Daughter’s of Portsmouth presented a check to the VFW and American Legion this week as their contribution to this worthy endeavor!
