Supper tonight at 5:30, followed by the Old-Time Junket at 7! “Chicken Diane”, with rice and salad, a veggie option, plus treats of course. Best of all, you might actually find parking on Main Street, or you can park across the bridge and walk over the river to get here!

Come hang out at the Civic on Tuesdays at 7pm from now until Halloween to help us build and prep for the big day. We’ll tell you all we know about the paranormal activity that’s expected on Main Street, and how we’re making sure we’re ready for it.

If you’re more dance-y and less build-y, then come to the Civic to join our super secret dance group rehearsals. Since it’s a secret, I guess you’ll have to show up to learn more. 10/13 + 10/27 - 5:30pm, 10/25 - 2pm.

If all of this is too much and you don’t even have your costume put together yet, no fear! Our costume swap will be up whenever we’re open for your perusal.

We opened the heck out of the new bridge this weekend!

Many thanks to the Hardwick Downtown Partnership, Union Bank, Vermont Humanities, and the Town of Hardwick for the collaboration! Plus, the Bad Penny Pleasure Makers for the Friday night dance, the Ida Mae Specker Band & Sarah Gibson for including us in their glorious square dance tour, Tamsen Turner for the beautiful poem (and Brett Stanciu and the Writer’s Circle for the support), Caja Madera for slinging delicious tacos, The Village Restaurant, Magic Spoon Bakery, Front Seat Coffee, the American Legion, and all of you for showing up! (🛻And, of course, those random hunters who appeared during the ceremony with a resurrected bear to break in the new town infrastructure.)

Here’s to many years of bridge filled fun in our future.

Between the New Orleans Jazz concert Friday night, and the Square dance on Saturday, we will have a proper bridge opening celebration at 3 PM on Saturday afternoon. Join us in the Daniels building parking lot for official speeches, a commemorative poem, refreshments, and live music, plus an appearance by some unexpected local wildlife.

In spite of how this video makes it look, this process has taken a while, and now it’s time to celebrate!

A few weeks ago, square dance caller and musician Sarah Gibson paid a visit to the Hardwick Historical Society. Historian Wiz Dow gave us a peek into the archives, full of treasures! We are so excited for the Square dance and concert this Saturday at the Town House. Sarah will be teaching squares and playing with the Ida Mae Specker band. Square dance lesson starts at 5:30, followed by the free dance and concert (open community old-time jam afterwards at the downstairs Legion bar!)

Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind event by renowned poet and comic artist Lauren Haldeman, traveling all the way from Iowa City. Following this Wednesday’s community supper, Lauren will present (and perform!) comics from her new book “Wild That We’re Alive”, right here in our Living Room theater on Main Street.

Every first and third Sunday of the month, the Civic schedule is packed! Shut up & Write from 9 to 11am, the Holding Space from 11:30 to 1:30, and Craft Collective from 2 to 5pm.

A quiet and companionable working spot in the morning, a joyful and welcoming gathering space for young children and their caregivers midday, and a social and creative space for crafters of all kinds in the late afternoon. Snacks and coffee throughout the day, right here on Main Street.

October is unhinged in the best possible way. We’ve got dances, concerts, meals, crafting, afterschool hangs, writing, puppet shows and all kinds of get-togethers. Meanwhile, we are starting rehearsals for the 51 cast members of “A Christmas Carol”, launching a movie discussion club, and even offering a couple of pop-up dental clinics thanks to a local provider’s generosity. In other words, there’s something for everyone.

Ike and Roy and chili and cornbread!

Join us for a classic fall supper this Wednesday followed by a living room concert right here on Main Street.

Chili and cornbread and the fixings will be served starting at 5:30. Following supper at about 6:30, local brilliant musicians Icarus Tyree and Roy MacNeil offer dizzying multi-instrumental action with angelic vocals as they perform original songs, familiar favorites, all the fiddle tunes you can eat, and more.

We are kicking off the bridge warming weekend with a hot and sweet concert all the way from New Orleans. Join us at the Legion, Friday, October 9 for the Bad Penny Pleasuremakers! They’ll be playing the good old good stuff from the early days of Jazz, Bues & Country Music— strings, washboard, reeds, keys (and the occasional cornet added). The whole band is a gang of talented multi-instrumentalists, and they all sing!
Admission by donation, cash bar, and special treats!
