These groups battled to the extremes this past week/weekend. They never backed down from any battle and each experienced adversity like no other. That is why we do what we do, we preach to every team and individual that life is never easy and you will always find yourself in some form of hole you have to climb out of. When you get knocked down, get up and try again. Your character is determined by how you react to unfavorable situations, everyone can play the part when things are good, but what is your mentality and attitude when it goes south?
We watched one chapter close for some of our high school girls, and to be honest, it was one of the most emotional things ever. Through all the emotions, we were able to sit back and recollect on all the good memories we have had over the years. All the car rides, tournaments, training days, practices, get togethers, etc. With this group we have laughed, cried, argued, pushed each other both as coaches and players, and we would not trade any of that for the world. To have comfortable outcomes, you must have uncomfortable moments leading up to it. Hats off to those girls for competing with the best of the best in Kentucky and for having a great AAU season this summer. Can’t wait for next season with the returners!
For the 6th girls, they learned a lot this weekend about where they were still weak at, all while learning so many strengths. This group has fought so much adversity over this season all while trying to figure out the balance of summer workouts, basketball workouts, and basketball practice. Not one complaint, just show up and show out. I just hope they see the light at the end of the tunnel, they have grown tremendously, but we can not slow down now. Teams have to respect us, play around with this group if you want to… results may vary.
As for the boys… give us 5, no 3 months, and I promise this will be the best boys team and players under 12 in SETX. They played a year up as far as age wise, but we don’t take moral wins, they figured out the pace that is played and the skill set required to compete… and they showed up at practice yesterday… which means they want it and are not ready to back down!
This program is only going up from here, thanks all who support us in all forms and fashions, it is greatly appreciated and does not go unnoticed!
