October means new fiscal years for many agencies, but that doesn’t mean unlimited budgets! Many handlers still find themselves pulling out their own wallets once the purchase requests have been reviewed. It’s this commitment to the job that makes these teams so successful.
If you’d like to help those teams hang on to more of their hard-earned money, donate today!

Great job K9 Bandit!! 👏🏼 We are so proud of you and all your hard work!

Around 11 p.m. on October 6, 2026, Belmont officers observed a vehicle traveling on Park Street in Belmont and witnessed several traffic violations, including careless and reckless driving. The vehicle nearly collided with several motorists. Based on the driver’s actions, officers believed the driver was intoxicated and that the manner of driving posed a danger to the public.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver fled from Park Street onto northbound I-85 at a high rate of speed. Belmont officers pursued the vehicle to Thomasboro Drive in Charlotte, where it struck a telephone pole.

The driver failed to obey officers commands and fled on foot. Belmont Police K9 Bandit and his handler conducted a track and located the suspect hiding in the bed of a truck approximately half a mile from the crash scene.

The suspect is a juvenile. The vehicle he fled in had been reported stolen in Charlotte.

The Belmont Police Department thanks the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for its assistance.

💙🐾 With broken hearts, K9 Strong, Inc. mourns the loss of K9 Dundee, a brave partner who gave his life protecting others. 🐾💙

Dundee lost his life while assisting Lee County deputies during an apprehension. During his service with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, he completed 174 deployments and was directly responsible for 28 apprehensions.

Dundee was more than a K9. He was a partner, protector, and beloved member of the LCSO family. Our deepest condolences are with Deputy Chala, Dundee’s handler and partner, his family, and the entire LCSO family.

Rest easy, Dundee. 🌈🐾 We have the watch from here.

As the seasons change, suspects often attempt to get creative with their hiding spots… the end result, however, is inevitably the same!
