The Detroit News article regarding our fight on the state of Cynara Johnson's living conditions has dropped!

It highlights the lack of accountability and responsibility when it comes to private equity and REITs buying into homeownership in manufactured housing markets - what is supposed to be the ground level for affordable housing.

But like everything else, they've hijacked it to their own benefit and screw everyone else.

Our founder, Tamara Graham, is quoted a few times through our Love Where You Live Foundation Keep Our Homes Initiative.

The GoFundMe for Cynara is mentioned int he article, but not linked. I've included that again in the comments. Please help if you can and please forward!

This lack of accountability hurts all of us!

Surviving doesn't mean you're weak.
It means you're here.
And that is a profound strength.

What's one strength, however quiet, that is helped you survive?

Episode 2 of Rights of the Lakes by our parent Pulse of the Great Lakes is now live.

We discuss the Lake Erie Bill of Rights (LEBOR) and how Corporate personhood has usurped actual personhood in the United States of America.

Ben and Tish also explain how we humans truly don't have any standing in court to protect ourselves from the poisoning and pollution of corporate entities.

Update: The city of Romulus, Michigan just completed an inspection of Cynara's property on our/her request. Their findings are what you see in the video, and they outlined it line by line.

They have submitted a formal inspection report and an order to repair to her property management and Sun Communities. State senator, Darrin Camilleri's office has also gotten involved and submitted a letter to the property management. However, as this is great news and a positive step in the right direction, Cynara is still living in toxic waste with her home rotting around her.

Our efforts to get her out of this situation are ongoing. We've also engaged Michigan Advance and the Detroit News, who both are working on a story regarding this.

We still need to get Cynara out. Please help. Every dollar of donation helps get her to safety. All proceeds go to moving her into transitional housing, with any left over going toward the legal fight ahead. As we fight this, we fight not just for Cynara, but for all of us. This affects all of us and is the first step in holding private equity and RETIs accountable.

The Bring the Love Initiative was created to support the mental health and resilience of those who run toward danger without pay or recognition—volunteer firefighters who often carry trauma alone. But trauma doesn’t stop with first responders. It runs through every part of our society, especially the lives of those most often ignored, erased, or targeted.

We stand beside Black and Indigenous communities, trans and q***r people, immigrants, women, and the working class—those being systematically attacked, silenced, and isolated in this moment of crisis. We believe trauma is not just an individual experience, but a collective wound that demands collective care.

Our goal is to create a more trauma informed society through free trauma informed training and clinical support.
