November took Molly to the GLSI (Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative) conference at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI.

⭐️ 33 adults from around the country attended her workshop “Learn Local, Wherever You Are: Usable Tools to Promote Sense of Place”. Learners

🌎 Experienced easy-to-adapt routines that promote “sense of place”
🔎 Explored concepts of ‘local literacy’ and ‘sense of place’

In late October, Molly and Old School Heritage Solutions put on a 4-day “How to Teach” workshop in Frederick, MD. ‘Participants had a combined 306 years of experience in preservation trades’ (per ), and left with

🪚 Active hands-on learning experiences
🧰 Fun and long-lasting methods to implement

From Joni, a participant: “As a hands-on preservation trade instructor and a Special Education classroom teacher, this workshop was invaluable to both in that it taught me how to get my students to connect to the subject, take ownership of their learning and get motivated about it all in the process.”

73 Harbor Springs 8th graders filled the downtown for our annual Career Pathways with the help of 35 professionals and 6 support crew.
Our students learned interview skills and phone etiquette, and interacted with professionals all around town, such as a(n)
* architect * highline city electrician * librarian * woodworker * realtor * boat rigger * postal carrier * builder * attorney * chef * physical therapist * auto mechanic * AV technician..to name a few!

BIG shout out to TOPOnexus and our local businesses for embracing our 8th graders today for Career Connections! Students practiced shaking hands, making introductions, answering phones, and networking with people from around the community. We appreciate all of the support in getting our students ready for their first jobs and sparking interest in future career pathways!

Big news! The Zonta Club of Petoskey awarded grants to nine amazing organizations this year - and Camp Daggett is honored to be one of them! We received $1,740 to support STEAM educational materials for our Topo Adventures Program at the Adventure Center. This grant helps us keep empowering young explorers through hands-on learning and outdoor adventure. 🌿

💛 Huge thanks to Zonta for supporting programs that uplift women and girls in our community!

This willow tree is a historic landmark along the shores of Little Traverse Bay, a few blocks from our Center. Severely damaged, but still standing - much like the entire region hit by the Ice Storm.

The last 2 weeks in northern Michigan have been a variety of things: scary, challenging, beautiful, horrible, heartbreaking, heartwarming, crazy. We, like our friends and neighbors, are helpers and survivors of Ice Storm 2025. It hasn’t been easy, but we are proud to be part of a strong community where people are helping people, and people are helping nature rebound from this storm (which has been compared to a category 5 hurricane).

Many people are still without power (day 14), line workers are here from Canada and around the U.S. working tirelessly. The range of emotions and work continues.

Spring has made a new entry in the books.
