Sophia's Grace Foundation A safe and loving foster home system for doxies & other small breeds while they wait on forever homes

We founded our group in honor of a dear little dachshund named Sophia Grace. Sophia was a sweet little 12-year old dachshund who was rescued from a situation where she spent all her life without receiving any medical care. When she came into rescue she was severely malnourished, sickly and had to have nearly all her teeth pulled. Through the "Grace" of so many selfless contributors we were able to get her the medical care that she so badly needed, and had been denied all her 12 years on earth. Sophia Grace lived out her final years in her forever home in Michigan where she thrived and grew stronger each day. It is in her honor that we founded our organization, and we will honor her with every dachshund we are able to help now and for many years to come!

Meet Koda, our Thursday pick! 🐾

Koda spent his first 6 months in a rural shelter, so he missed the early socialization most pups get. He's still showing up every day, unlearning old habits and making real progress. 🥹 Now he needs someone patient to keep cheering him on.

What to know about Koda:�
🐶 He's a "let me come to you" kind of guy. Rush him and he'll back off, but give him time and space and he warms right up.�💁‍♀️ He's most comfortable with women, since his trainers have all been ladies.�⚠️ He's had fearful reactions to tall, thin teens, including one nip (no skin broken), so introductions need to be slow and thoughtful.

Once he trusts you, he's all in: couch potato, snuggle bug, hard player, harder lover. 💕

We have the happiest news to share—our sweet Gretchen has officially found her forever home! 🏡💕
Gretchen, a 7-year-old retired breeding dog, spent years without knowing what it truly meant to be a cherished house pet. But thanks to a wonderful, patient family, her brand-new chapter has officially begun!

Her new adopters knew that Gretchen needed an adult-only home, a calm environment, and a little extra patience with house training—and they stepped up to give her every bit of love and support she deserves. Today, she’s settling in, getting spoiled, and learning just how wonderful life as a beloved family member can be. 🐾✨

Tiny Pom, BIG personality! 🐾❤️

Meet Chloe, a 6-year-old, 8-pound black and tan Pomeranian who's ready to steal your heart!
Chloe came to Sophia's Grace Foundation when her previous owner could no longer care for her. Another rescue stepped in first, but they were quickly overwhelmed and called on SGF. We were thrilled to welcome this little girl into our rescue family! 🥰

Chloe is a social butterfly in a tiny, fluffy package. She LOVES meeting new people, going on outings, and being in the middle of the action. Her foster mom has taken her to several community events, and Chloe has soaked up every minute of the attention.

But when the adventures are over, she's just as happy curled up on the couch for a good snuggle. Adventure buddy AND cuddle companion! 💕

Chloe has a heart murmur that requires daily medication, and she's doing wonderfully on it. It hasn't slowed her down one bit! She just needs a family committed to her daily meds and regular vet care.

Saddle up, dachshund lovers, because this little Cowboy is ready to ride straight into your heart! 🤠❤️

Meet Dexter, better known as Cowboy to his foster family! This handsome piebald doxie needed a new home when his family was moving and couldn't take him along. He was advertised for free on Facebook, but Sophia's Grace Foundation stepped in, his family agreed to let us bring him into rescue, and what a treasure he turned out to be!

Dexter may be one of the happiest, sweetest, most easygoing wieners you'll ever meet. He has never met a stranger, whether they have two legs or four, and he gets along beautifully with people, dogs, and even cats. A social butterfly in a long, low, adorable package!

This charming gentleman loves to get out and about. He's wonderful on a leash, enjoys his daily walks, and has even gone along to softball games, where he happily soaked up all the excitement. Dexter is thrilled to be included in whatever his people are doing!

But don't let that social calendar fool you. Cowboy is also a professional snuggler! 🥰 If you know doxies, you know the burrowing is non-negotiable: under the blankets, curled up beside his favorite human, sneaking beneath the covers at bedtime. Looking for a four-legged bed warmer? Dexter volunteers! 🛏️

He's house-trained, though he may do a little marking while settling into unfamiliar surroundings. With patience, consistency, and time to adjust, he'll learn the routine of his new home.

At 8 years young, Dexter has the perfect blend of playful enthusiasm and laid-back charm. He's looking for an active, loving family who will include him in their adventures, spoil him with affection, and give him the security of a forever home.

🚨 TIME IS RUNNING OUT FOR OSCAR! EXPERIENCED FOSTER NEEDED! 🚨

This 5-year-old Mini Dachshund is sweet, friendly, and house trained, but his family is now threatening euthanasia because of his behavioral challenges.

We had a foster lined up for Oscar, but they were no longer able to take him, and now we're searching again. He needs someone soon.

Oscar will bite when handled for grooming or when a collar or leash is put on, and he can be hit-or-miss with other pets. With the right person, he can be so much more than his worst moments. He needs an experienced, patient foster who understands boundaries and can see him through full vetting, including neutering.

Oscar is:

❌ Not recommended for a home with children or dogs
