We are honored to announce The Bamford Family (Kai, Nate and Cam) from Bend, OR as the recipients of this year’s HFF Superdraft Baseball Tournament!
On Easter, after a long weekend of baseball, 10 year old Kai was life-flighted to Oregon Health & Science University after suffering a brain bleed, and his family was suddenly thrown into an unexpected and serious medical journey. Since then, he has undergone several surgeries and now faces extensive rehabilitation and continued care.
His family has been deeply invested in youth baseball in our local community for years. His dad has coached in Little League for the past six seasons, along with a travel ball team, consistently showing up for the kids, not just to teach the game, but to invest in who they are becoming.
Baseball isn’t just something their family does. It’s a huge part of how they connect, serve, and build relationships.
Despite the challenges, they have witnessed incredible moments of strength and progress, working through painful physical therapy, beginning to walk again with assistance, glimpses of regaining speech, and emotional moments watching his 10U Jr. Saints team play on GameChanger.
Kai is a sweet boy with a deep faith in Jesus and a love for baseball that shines through everything he does.
The funds raised through this year’s HFF Superdraft Baseball Tournament will help support the extensive medical expenses, rehabilitation, and continued care Kai will need throughout his recovery, while also helping ease the burden on his family during this healing journey.
Please continue praying for Kai’s healing, strength, and recovery; and for peace, endurance, and hope for his family in the months ahead.
This years event will once again be held at Mountain View High School in Vancouver, WA. August 14th-16th, 2026.
