Grateful 🙏 that the Lord provides generous hearts to the homeless!! Grateful the Lord provides home, a d all our needs, as well as blessings beyond number!!

YOU DID IT! BUT WE CAN DO MORE ... A heartfelt thanks to those generous STUFF THE TRUCK donors who provided 139 turkeys, 11 hams and 120 cases full of sides (potatoes, green beans, stuffing, etc.) as well as $1,713.00 in financial donations.

All of these will go to help underserved Shasta County families enjoy a holiday meal. Because of you, we're that much closer to our goal of giving away 1000 turkey dinners... with all the fixins!

So that no family gets left out, we still need at least 261 more turkeys just for Thanksgiving, plus more canned and boxed goods! Come down to our kitchen at 3050 Veda St. and drop off a turkey OR give online: https://tinyurl.com/ms7sjs82

A $27.00 donation will provide one turkey. Give extra for items such as cranberry sauce, yams, green beans or boxed stuffing and mashed potatoes. And for dessert, we're asking for pudding cups...an easy, no-prep dessert.

And thank you...there is no county as generous as Shasta County!

Goats at work; reducing fuels to avoid a catastrophic wild fire!

Goats at work; reducing fuels to avoid a catastrophic wild fire!

A ravenous (we hope) herd of goats is descending on the area around our Visitor Center. Because of where they will be working, beginning tomorrow we will temporarily close the Shasta Divide Nature Trail below the Visitor Center.

Safer than having humans negotiate the steep slopes, goats are working to reduce the fuel load that a potential wildland fire could use. The goats are being used to protect vital infrastructure and other sensitive areas. In addition to the safety considerations, the goats are, generally, cheaper that hiring a contract crew to work the same acreage.

If you get a chance to watch them in action, please stay away from the fence as it is electrified. The goats are also accompanied by several working dogs who’s job it is to keep the goats safe from bear, mountain lions, and other predators. These dogs will bite so please do not try to pet them.

📷A graphic warning guests about the electric fence and working animals.

Congratulations to Dave!

Congratulations and thank you Dave for 24 years of service! When it comes to great employees, Dave checks all the boxes – dependable, hard worker (check!), always available to work over-time (check!), and personable with our customer base (check! check!). Dave also has a great personality and always has a quick joke. He covers four of our seven exchanges and is very busy converting customers to fiber-to-the-premises.

Dave enjoys hunting, fishing, and metal detecting. He loves playing with his grandchildren.

Dave says, “There are great people at STC - - - from my co-workers all the way up to upper management. Everyone is friendly and easy to work with. I like living in the woods and having a good job to work at.”
