“Service for Kids and Community”

The Kiwanis Club of Hanson is celebrating its 75th Anniversary Year, a long and distinguished tradition of community service. We welcome new members in order to continue providing assistance to others, including leadership and service opportunities for children and adults with disabilities. We increased our energy and effectiveness by adding the non-profit 501(c)(

3) Kiwanis Club of Hanson Foundation. The mission and success of our club offers an opportunity for anyone who is interested in being of service and we are excited about engaging more people in club projects as well as benefiting from the talents and suggestions they will be able to offer. Examples of locally supported programs include Hanson Food Pantry, Hanson Middle School Builders Club, WHRHS Key Club, youth sports, Dollars for Scholars, Boy Scout Troop 68, Green Hanson, and Hanson Community Christmas. We provided a renovated Hanson Events sign in front of Town Hall. We support the Kiwanis/UNICEF global initiative to eradicate Maternal Neonatal Tetanus and the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute at Tufts/ Boston Floating Hospital for Children. Importantly, we try to offer assistance to individuals and groups who ask for our help. In addition to Builders Club and Key Club, we sponsor the Hanson Aktion Club, a Kiwanis International club for adults (18+) living with disabilities, in conjunction with New England Village, Pembroke, as the host agency. We are listed as a charity with AmazonSmile and verified with Benevity.org for matching grants. Any donations through such organizations or from individuals are put to good use and are greatly appreciated. Donations may also be made directly on our website (kiwanisclubofhanson.com). We try to meet twice a month, on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m., at the Hanson Public Library. During holiday weeks, when we might be hosting an event, or during the summer, the meeting schedule or location might change. We have members who are not able to attend on a regular basis, but pitch in when the club has an event or project. As one couple (parents) expressed it, "We see how Kiwanis involvement can help us model positive citizenship and service to others, especially for children". No two Kiwanis clubs are alike, and our membership reflects that. They are busy and involved in a variety of professions and organizations, but like-minded regarding their interest in community service. For questions on how to get involved as a volunteer through Kiwanis, contact Gerry Lozeau, Hanson President (c) 508-454-6665, [email protected]. He would be pleased to meet with you and provide specific information. A recipient of the Outstanding Division LTG (Lieutenant Governor) Award he has served five times on the Board of Directors for the NE&Bermuda District of Kiwanis and a year on the Board of Directors for the Kiwanis Foundation of NE. We look forward to welcoming new members who will help us enhance our service leadership potential, have a model club, and be a focused positive community influence.
