Every last Sunday of May, Haiti celebrates Mother's Day. Yesterday, our staff and program participants marked the occasion by celebrating the mothers and mother figures who represent the pillars of our community. ❤️
Our monthly newsletter that came out last week captures that spirit beautifully:
"At the center of the flag's coat of arms stands a royal palm, known as the Poto Mitan, the central column that holds everything together. If that phrase sounds familiar, it should. It is the same word we use to describe the women who are the pillars of Jou Nouvo. The Poto Mitan is woven into our flag, our culture, and our daily work."
Happy Haitian Mother's Day!! ❤️

Chak dènye dimanch mwa me, Ayiti selebre Fèt Manman. Yè, staf nou yo ak patisipan pwogram nou yo te make okazyon sa a ak yon bèl omaj pou manman yo ak tout lòt fanm ki se vrè poto mitan kominote nou an. ❤️
Poto Mitan an mare ak drapo nou, ak kilti nou, epi ak travay n ap fè chak jou."
Bòn Fèt Manman Ayisyen! ❤️🇭🇹
