PennCares Support Services

PennCares Support Services PennCares is dedicated to helping individuals of all ages continue to live well and independently. We are here for you.

Penncares' Children’s Programs consist of Early Intervention, Child Development Group, and Preschool. The Children’s Programs strive to focus on children with special needs as well as providing quality learning opportunities for all children in the community. Families of all children are essential partners in the success of our Children’s Programs. Penncares In-Home Program will help you maintain

and gain new independence in the essential daily living elements that includes bathing, dressing, personal care, light house keeping, transportation, shopping, errands and food preparation. Penncares trains all personal care attendants to meet PA DOH and DHS requirements, and retrains them annually. If you are already approved for one of the OLTL waivers, let your service coordinator know you would like to have Penncares provide your services. If you are not on the waiver system, please contact Maximus Referrals at 1-877-550-4227 to check on eligibility.

As we embark on a new school year, we've had several people ask if there is a way they can help support our playgroup/preschool classes. If you feel inclined, we have attached our Amazon wish list. As always, we appreciate your continued support to help our little minds learn and grow.
Thank you!

Join us for -Caring for the Caregiver: Using Self-Care to Combat Compassion Fatigue webinar on August 5th. Register at penncares.org

Compassion fatigue is characterized by a gradual decline in compassion over time, resulting from a combination of burnout and secondary traumatic stress due to vicarious traumatization from repeated exposure to traumatic material. This training will provide a comprehensive understanding of compassion fatigue, with a focus on how these issues affect individuals in caregiving or helping professions. Participants will learn to define and differentiate between burnout and compassion fatigue, understand their underlying causes, and identify their unique symptoms. In addition, the training will explore protective factors that can reduce the impact of these challenges and guide participants in developing personalized self-care plans. This training will equip participants with the knowledge and strategies needed to prevent and manage compassion fatigue in both their professional and personal lives.

Objectives

Define and understand burnout, vicarious/secondary trauma, and compassion fatigue.
Differentiate between burnout vs. compassion fatigue.
Utilize assessment tools to understand personal levels of compassion satisfaction as well as compassion fatigue.
Understand protective factors and develop a plan of self-care.
