It has come to Kaleidoscope's attention that the Ku Klux Klan has decided to revisit Madison on the 27th of May, the same day as Hanover's Graduation Ceremony. They will be holding a rally at Fireman's Park, which is the same place the K*K held their rally last year.
Despite the obvious civil resistance shown by the students of Hanover College and the people of Madison, the K*K: an organization whose members are known for their racism, sexism, and general intolerance for basic human rights, have decided to hold another rally near our College.
We, the representatives of Kaleidoscope: an organization dedicated to diversity, to the fair treatment of every human being, to the inclusiveness that every institution should emulate, and to the progress toward understanding, acceptance, and recognition of the basic rights of all people, are appalled at the K*K's brazen reappearance.
It is unclear at this point in time whether or not Kaleidoscope will be organizing to protest the K*K's presence in Madison due to the fact that it is on Graduation Day. It is clear that whether we protest at Fireman's Park, make signs for those who will be protesting, have a solidarity march on campus, or host some other event, that Kaleidoscope will be responding to the K*K's reappearance with action, and that our action we take will be representative of our aversion for the intolerance and ignorance that the K*K represents, our belief in nonviolent protest, and our hope in the love and understanding that every person should receive.
Sincerely,
The Executive Board of Kaleidoscope
