What a season. Ten riders. One incredible community. This team showed the world what Motley Sprockets really means.
This is not about mountain biking.
This is about persevering at life.
At Motley Sprockets, we focus on learning how to persevere when things get hard, how to have tough conversations when things donāt go our way, and how to show kindness, grit, and sportsmanship no matter the outcome.
As our season comes to a close, Iāve been reflecting on just how proud I am of this team ā not for podiums or medals, but for the community weāve built.
At every race this year, someone asked, āHow big is your team now?ā
And the answer always makes me smile: Ten.
Just ten riders.
But our presence is so much bigger than our size.
You can feel it at the start line, in the feed zone, and on the trail.
You can see it in how we cheer for each other and for other teams.
You can hear it when we yell our signature woo-hoos through the woods.
Weāre called the Motley Sprockets for a reason.
Weāre a mix of young men and young women, neurotypical and neurodivergent ā all different, all committed, and all learning what it means to show up for each other.
Three of our ten riders are young women, which puts us well above average in youth mountain biking, and weāre proud of that.
All ten of our riders raced this season and attended at least 70% of practices.
That is commitment.
That is strength.
That is heart.
And it showed.
There wasnāt a single week that went by without Motley Sprockets being called out for showing up well ā for being extra, for helping other riders, for showing sportsmanship, and for cheering the loudest.
I heard it in person, over text, and even during coachesā calls.
Our impact was felt far beyond our tent.
Iāll leave you with a quote from Kara Lawson that inspired us all season:
āWe all wait in life for things to get easier. It will never get easier. What happens is you handle hard better.ā
Motley Sprockets isnāt just our name.
Itās who we are.
And this year, we rode as one.
Motley Strong.
