Then Thursday, we started even younger! 📚 As part of our workforce outreach at the Hannibal Free Public Library, we read the book 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁, 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁, 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝗲 and brought along diggers and construction-themed sensory activities for the babies—plus first aid kits for the mommas! ❤️🩹

Twenty-five years later, we remember not only the tragedy of that day, but also the courage, sacrifice, and unity that followed.

May we continue to carry forward that spirit of service, compassion, and community.

Labor Day is more than celebrating a long weekend or the unofficial end of summer- it's a holiday created to recognize the American worker and the important role our workforce has played in building our country.

The first Labor Day was celebrated in New York City on September 5, 1882- during a time when workers were advocating for better working conditions and better recognition of their contributions. In 1892, Labor Day became a federal holiday, officially honoring the achievements of the American workers.

This Labor Day, HREDC celebrates our workforce- past, present and future.

As students across the region head back to the classroom, HREDC is wishing our students, teachers, staff, administrators and families a wonderful school year! ✏📓🚌

At HREDC, we're proud to work alongside our local schools, employers, and community partners to help students explore careers, discover opportunities close to home, and begin imagining what their future could look like. 🌟🎒

Our Workforce Pipeline Coordinator, Coley Haycraft, had a great time yesterday visiting the library and connecting with kids of all ages 📚

From giving Band-Aids to teddy bear "boo-boos," to handing out Careers In Our Counties coloring books, to talking with teens about their futures, we had the opportunity to connect with kids from ages 5-15!
Career exploration can start at any age and every conversation is the chance to plant a seed 🌱
Thank you to the library for inviting us and for creating these opportunities for kids!
