Behind the Hannibal Folklife Festival is a tremendous amount of planning, preparation, dedication and hard work - and the Hannibal Arts Council is fortunate to have an incredible team helping pull it all together.

We want to give a very special shout-out to HAC Office Coordinator Errin Ward, HAC Program Coordinator Becky Evans, HAC Executive Director Michael Gaines for their tireless efforts in helping bring the Hannibal Folklife Festival to life!

From months of planning and coordinating countless details to tackling last-minute challenges, putting in long hours and doing whatever needs to be done, they give it their all! Their dedication, enthusiasm, teamwork and commitment to the Hannibal Arts Council and our community are truly appreciated.

HAC might have a small staff, but they're mighty!

A festival of this size doesn't happen without a lot of helping hands, and we're grateful for our volunteers, supporters and community partners. But today, we want to highlight the hardworking HAC staff who keep everything moving behind the scenes.

Thank you for going above and beyond, for keeping things running smoothly (even when things get a little crazy!), and for bringing your energy, talents and heart to everything you do.

This hardworking crew is so appreciated for helping keep Historic Downtown Hannibal looking its best during the Hannibal Arts Council's Hannibal Folklife Festival!

Picking up trash may not be the most glamorous job, but it's certainly one of the most important! With thousands of people enjoying the festivities, keeping our streets clean and trash cans emptied is no small task!

These folks are a prime example of the people working behind the scenes who help make the magic happen! Their hard work, dedication and willingness to tackle a less-than-glamorous job make a BIG difference.

We're grateful for this crew and all the volunteers who give their time and energy to make the Hannibal Folklife Festival something our community can be proud of!

When you stroll down Historic Main Street during the Hannibal Folklife Festival, you experience the sights, sounds, smells and traditions that have made this event a part of our community for 50 years.

But what you don't see is the work that goes into making it all happen.

Months of planning. Phone calls, emails, decisions and details. Coordinating exhibitors and vendors. Working with food booths - which we are proud to say are reserved for local nonprofit, civic and church organizations. Arranging permits, street closures, equipment, supplies, publicity, sponsorships, volunteers and a seemingly endless list of details.

And just when you think everything is in place, there's always something else that needs attention! Each year there are different "surprises."

Behind this two-day festival are hundreds of hours of preparation by the Hannibal Arts Council staff, dedicated volunteers, committee members, board, community partners, City of Hannibal and countless others who help turn plans on paper into a festival that welcomes thousands to Historic Downtown Hannibal.

It's a tremendous undertaking. It's exhausting at times. It's challenging. And it's absolutely worth it.

What makes the Hannibal Folklife Festival so special isn't just what happens on Main Street for two days each October. It's the people who care enough about this community and its traditions to make it happen year after year.

As we celebrate our 50th Annual Hannibal Folklife Festival, we're especially reminded of the generations of individuals who have given their time, talents, energy and hearts to build and sustain something special.

So, when you visit the festival this weekend, take a moment to appreciate not only what you see, but all the work and dedication behind it.

Fifty years of art, memories, traditions and community. Fifty years of people making it happen.

And from all of us at the Hannibal Arts Council, THANK YOU to everyone who has helped make the magic possible!
