The Hannibal Arts Council recently celebrated the contributions of outstanding individuals, businesses and organizations at the 2026 Paragon Art Awards, an annual event recognizing those who make a lasting impact on the arts in the community. Each recipient received a unique, handcrafted award created by local artist and woodcarver Steve Holt.
2026 Paragon Art Awards winners included:
Leadership in the Arts (Art Project/Art Program) award recognized the We Stand United Puppetry and Dance Team under the direction of Marsha Mayfield for their dedicated to inclusion, understanding, education and bringing people together through the arts.
Leadership in the Arts (Individual) award recognized Peter Raith for his dedication to the organization as a participant, volunteer and member of the HAC Board of Directors.
Leadership in the Arts (Business/Organization) award recognized the CRD Circle of King’s Daughters for its long-standing partnerships of presenting the Hannibal Folklife Festival Kid’s Corner, hosting numerous exhibit openings and commitment to our community through service projects.
The Ultimate Paragon award, the highest award given, will be presented at a later date.
An additional award was presented as part of the Jean Vincent/Scipio Creek Pottery Arts Education Fund. The Arts Education Award was presented to Stowell Elementary Art Instructor Stephen Schisler for his commitment to the Hannibal Public School District, quality arts education, the HAC Youth Program Committee and programs like K-5 Art Adventures, Wild & Wacky Art Adventure and IMPACT Youth Art Camp as well his involvement in several community mural projects. The Arts Education recipient received an original pottery piece created by Jean Vincent/Scipio Creek Pottery.
