Happy Father’s Day from the Wildlife Prairie Park family to yours! 💚
Today, we’re celebrating one of our newest animal dads, Ernest “Ernie” the Elk! 🦌

Ernest is the Park’s only bull elk and recently welcomed three adorable calves into the herd.

Did you know? After mating season, typically in March, Ernest sheds his antlers due to a drop in testosterone levels. While Ernest’s antlers are currently in the early stages of regrowth, this process is the fastest known bone growth in the animal kingdom. An adult bull elk’s antlers can grow up to 1 inch per day!

Happy American Eagle Day! 🦅
On this day, 244 years ago, the Second Continental Congress adopted the Bald as part of the Great Seal of the United States on June 20, 1782.

The bald eagle is also the national bird of the United States and the only eagle species found exclusively in North America. Did you know that bald eagles have been found living in every U.S. state except Hawaii? 😱

Rock out tonight at our first Wildfire Concert of the summer! 🎸✨

From 6 PM - 9 PM, enjoy live music by rock duo, Black Velvet, meet an animal ambassador at intermission, and explore the Park. The Animal Trails and Forest Hall Education Center will stay open until 8 PM.

🎟️ Admission on Wildfire Concert nights is just a $5 cover for WPP Members and $10 cover for Non-Members! Starting at 5:30 PM.

The Best Brew Adventure Cafè will be open late! Grab yummy food and drinks to enjoy a picnic in the wild.

Happy Juneteenth from all of us at Wildlife Prairie Park! 💚
Today, we commemorate Juneteenth, a day that marks the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to announce that the last enslaved people were free—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation declared their freedom.

As we honor this important day in our nation's history, we take time to reflect, learn, and celebrate freedom and the ongoing pursuit of equality for all.

Explore Deep Lake for 1 hour with other paddle sport enthusiasts, led by our recreation staff and volunteers.

Rent a kayak or stand-up paddleboard (SUP) for the adventure or bring your own. If you bring your own, please bring your own lifejacket.

Kayak and SUP Rental Price: $20
