📚💚 UCP+ Hanford Children’s Program Celebrates the Gift of Reading with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library! 💚📚
There’s nothing quite like seeing a child’s face light up when a new book arrives — and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is helping make those moments possible for families right here in our community! ✨📖
One of our own UCP+ team members is also a mom whose family has benefited from this wonderful program. Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, children receive FREE, age-appropriate books mailed directly to their homes, helping families build their own little libraries and encouraging a love of reading from an early age. 📬📚❤️
For our UCP+ team member, it’s more than receiving a book in the mail — it’s something her family can look forward to, read together and enjoy together. 💚
We love sharing resources that help children learn, grow and connect with their families — and this is one that can make a difference one book at a time! 🌟📖We encourage you to look into and learn more about Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and see if your child may be eligible to participate.

💦☀️ Making a splash at UCP+ Hanford! 🌊💚
Victor Perez, Director of the UCP+ Hanford Children’s Program, takes us inside Water Day and shares a little about this special day for our Parent & Me families! 💦🎥
Our Parent & Me Children’s Program turned up the summertime fun with a special Water Day for our kids and families—and staying dry was definitely NOT part of the plan! 💦
From splashing and water play to plenty of laughs and smiles, our kids had the chance to cool off, explore, and enjoy some summer fun alongside their parents. 🫧☀️
But Water Day is about more than having fun. Our Parent & Me Program creates opportunities for children and their parents to learn, grow, connect, and make memories together through engaging experiences that encourage exploration, interaction, and developmental growth. 💚
Days like this are what summer is all about—happy kids, proud parents, and plenty of splashes! 💦🙌

Why Disability Pride Month Exists: The Capitol Crawl That Changed History
Some moments in history change the course of a nation.
On March 13, 1990, disability rights activists left their wheelchairs, crutches, and other mobility aids behind to crawl up the steps of the U.S. Capitol. Their message was clear: equal access couldn't wait.
Among them was 8-year-old Jennifer Keelan-Chaffins, a young girl with cerebral palsy who inspired millions when she declared:
"I'll take all night if I have to!"
Her determination, along with the courage of hundreds of other advocates, helped shine a national spotlight on the urgent need for disability rights. Just four months later, on July 26, 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law, becoming one of the most important civil rights laws in U.S. history.
As we celebrate Disability Pride Month, we honor the advocates who fought for accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunity. Their courage reminds us that progress is made when people refuse to give up.
This year's Disability Pride Month theme says it best: "The World Works Better With Us." 💙🌎
