It was a beautiful day at the beach here in Southern California! 🌊☀️ It was a joy to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new friends, and enjoy fellowship both by the ocean and in the summer beach water. We shared a BBQ lunch, sang hymns together, and were encouraged by a devotional from the Belgic Confession.
Reflecting on this portion of Article 22, we are reminded that true faith is kindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit and rests in Christ and His merits alone. By grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Our fellowship is deeper than shared interests or activities; we are brothers and sisters united by faith in the same Savior.
📜 From the opening words of Belgic Confession Article 22 — “Our Justification Through Faith in Christ”
"We believe that, in order that we may obtain the true knowledge of this great mystery, the Holy Spirit kindles in our hearts a true faith. This faith embraces Jesus Christ with all his merits, makes him our own, and does not seek anything besides him. For it must necessarily follow, either that all we need for our salvation is not in Jesus Christ or, if it is all in him, that one who has Jesus Christ through faith, has complete salvation."
