All of the presentations will be done in the area of the Mecan Springs Segment northern terminus parking lot on Buttercup Dr. starting at 9AM. Be sure to bring along a rain coat just in case Mother Nature gives us some much needed rain.
This will be a great day to learn some new skills, share trail stories and enjoy a great Waushara County segment of the Ice Age Trail.

The Ice Age Trail Waushara Chapter was invited to participate in the Central Wisconsin Trout Unlimited Central Sands Celebration Work Day on May 16th. The habitat work day was on the Mecan River east of 9th Ave adjacent to the Mecan River IAT segment. Excellent weather and a large TU volunteer turnout allowed the habitat improvement goals to be met and exceeded. Carl Mesman was able to meet with TU Chapter leaders, TU members, WDNR Fisheries Mgt staff and other invited environment organization members. Carl informed the group that three of the county segments provide direct access to Premier trout streams and many of the fishers will likely take advantage of this access. Great event that expanded the awareness of the IAT.

The Waushara Chapter had a display at the Waushara Nature Fair on Sunday. Carl & Julie Mesman were on hand to answer questions and hand out information about the IATA and the county's trail segments. The ability to shuttle hikers by Trail Angels to allow one way segment hikes was one of the most welcomed bits of Information. Chapter events and hiking opportunity information was also handed out to the well attended event attendees.

It took only 2 days for Hannah Ricke to blaze through Waushara County heading north for her thru hike to the western terminus in Interstate State Park. Hannah is an accomplished veteran long distance hiker with the Pacific Crest Trail, other extensive thru hikes in the United States and multiple backpack trips in Europe on her resume. As an accomplished oil paint artist, she uses her hiking adventures as inspiration for her art work and writings.
