Celebrate with us at Historic Hamtramck Stadium this Friday (6/19)!

On Friday, June 19th The 5th Annual Hamtramck Stadium Juneteenth Celebration begins at 11:00 at Historic Hamtramck Stadium, 3201 Dan St.

-11:00 am: Keynote Speaker Dorian Hairston; Turkey Stearnes Foundation Multidisciplinary Art Contest performance and award; tribute to the late Ron "Schoolboy Teasley"

-12:00 pm: Turkey Stearnes Home Run Derby

-2:00 pm: Negro Leagues Prep Star Classic between Team Stearnes and Team Teasley's top minority high school players in Metro Detroit

Food trucks will be on site throughout the day.

Come out and enjoy a fun day of baseball and activities your whole family can enjoy! Entrance is free for everyone!

This weekend, Friends of Historic Hamtramck Stadium (FHHS) Gary Gillette and Hamtramck Parks Conservancy (HPC) Mike Wilson have partnered with The Henry Ford for a Historic Base Ball tribute game at Greenfield Village as part of their block party: THF.org/blockparty

Later this month, join HPC and FHHS again in Veterans Park for our 5th Annual Hamtramck Stadium Juneteenth Celebration for a keynote by Dorian Hairston, Home Run Derby, Award Ceremonies, and Negro Leagues Prep Star Classic.

Do you have kids ages 6-8 years old or know someone who might be interested? Please pass on this opportunity.

Registration for Hamtramck Small Ball and Lego STEM Summer Camp at Historic Hamtramck Stadium is open! Led by HPC Director of Baseball Operations, Mike Wilson, camp programming includes baseball/softball training, STEM Lego challenges, Negro League/Black Baseball history education through engaging activities, and three field trips!

Dates:
Monday through Friday, June 22 through July 31 from 9am through 2:15pm.
Field trips take place on Fridays.

Cost:
$50. Note that cost covers daily breakfast and lunch.

The Hamtramck Parks Conservancy is a collaboration between the city, the public schools, and community partners seeking to improve green spaces and recreation activities for city residents.

Early this week bike pumps were replaced at both Pulaski and Veterans Park. HPC worked with North End Woodward Community Coalition who generously gifted and installed the new replacement pumps. We are glad to have found a solution that conserved resources by preserving the existing concrete pad and replacing only the dysfunctional part, rather than installing an entirely new, full bike repair station.

These pumps are awesome! With a gauge on top, users can pump to their specified pressure. Pumps are metal and can be used with both Presta and Schrader valves. Stop by either Veterans Park off the southwest corner of the tennis courts or the southeast corner of Pulaski Park for quick self-service on your rides.
