Georgia Food & Resource Center, Inc. Georgia Food & Resource Center, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission for feeding the hungry in Georgia, and the Southeast.

is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission for feeding the hungry and providing for their basic needs. Our coverage area is vast and we do not discriminate. We estimate that last year alone we reached more than 60,000 men, women, and children in some way. We serve as a Food Bank Resource Center with more than 300 ministries coming through our doors on a weekly basis. These ministries, i

n turn, go into their own communities and distribute product where it is needed. The only way we're able to provide the aid that we do is through the generosity of our partner agencies: Feed The Children, Feed the Hungry and Convoy of Hope. We're also greatly blessed with generous donors locally, and across the Southeast that donate to us. Without the wonderful help of our volunteers and community service workers, Georgia Food & Resource Center, Inc. wouldn't be able to do what we do. Loyal volunteers and community service workers come on a daily basis and help packing boxes, sorting produce, and preparing the warehouse for our weekly distribution. To make donations, or to find out about volunteer opportunities, please call us at 770-946-0500 or through our website at www.gafrc.org.

Good morning,
I hope all of you have enjoyed this lovely weather as much as I have. This week I am going to name some herbs & Spices and what they are used for. Hope you find this useful.

Basil: Sweet, warm flavor with an aromatic odor. Use whole or ground. Good with lamb, fish, roast, stews, ground beef, vegetables, dressings and omelets.

Bay Leaves: Pungent flavor. Use whole leaf but remove before serving. Good in vegetable dishes, seafood, stews and pickles. I use in spaghetti sauce.

Oregano: Strong, aromatic odor. Use whole or ground in tomato juice, fish, eggs, pizza, omelets, chili, stew, gravy, poultry and vegetables.

Sage: Use fresh or dried. The flowers are sometimes used in salads. May be used in tomato juice, fish omelets, beef poultry, stuffing, cheese spreads in breads.

Tarragon: Leaves have a pungent, hot taste. Use to flavor sauces, salads, fish poultry, tomatoes eggs, green beans, carrots and dressings.

It is getting cold and a good ole bowl of hot soup sounds so warm!! My friend made the best Potato soup. We liked it anytime hot or cold weather!! This isn't my friends recipe but it sounds similar.

POTATO SOUP
4 lge. potatoes, cut up
1 can beef bouillon
1 onion, chopped
1/2 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
1/4 tsp. seasoned salt
1/4 tsp. seasoned pepper
1 bouillon can of water
Combine ingredients; cook slowly for 1 hour. Mash ingredients fine with potato masher; simmer 15 minutes longer ( I like to leave some small cubes of potatoes in mine just for the texture). Serve with crackers ( I like cornbread). Yield 4 servings.
Today I would like to add a side dish that goes well with vegetables we have it often at our family dinners....Pear salad: drain any size can of pears and place pear halves on a bed of lettuce. Fill the hole with a little mayonnaise and put shredded cheese on top of this. You can dress it up with a cherry on top. My family love these, so easy and so good.
