Golden Thimble Needlecraft Guild Our mission is “Preserving the Art of Needlecraft”. Golden Thimble is a 50+ year independent Guild meeting in Hampton, Virginia. The Guild meets at 10:00 a.m.

The Golden Thimbles Needlecraft Guild is an independent guild located in Hampton, Virginia for 50 years. on the second Tuesday of each month, September through May. We meet at LibertyLive church at 1021 Big Bethel Road. We have had programs on knitting, crochet, beading, quilting, cross stitch, silk thread embroidery, punch needle, crewel embroidery, hardanger, and quilling to name a few. This page is to share our love of needlework and is not a forum for selling.

Did you know the first metal thimble was made in 1695 and called a “thumb bell”? It protected fingers while hand sewing - simple but clever! For business owners & working women throughout history, owning a gold thimble represented personal success and skill in commerce.

As we execute our 2026/2027 GTNG season, let’s continue to teach, learn, and embrace needlecraft skills as our founding members did back in 1974. Shout out to our Programs Committee that spent the summer developing a great schedule.

GTNG’s Summer Hiatus officially ends in 40,320 minutes 🤗🤗! Only 4 more weeks until we:

- meet/greet new & old friends.
- finish that WIP for the first Show & Tell.
- support the Treasury (raffle/sidewalk).
- finish our first Program of the season.
- celebrate the 50+ years of preserving the art of needlecrafts.
