Worldwide Knit In Public Day (WWKIP) is coming Saturday, June 13. WWKIP started in 2005 to encourage fiber artists to leave their homes, gather in public spaces, and craft together.

The perfect excuse to meet up with friends & enjoy a few treats out at a park, beach, etc. You can also honor the day with a charity element. GTNG members can get a head start on our Caps for Kids drive or other charity donations I.e., blankets for the homeless, hospitals, etc. Lots of great causes out there.

Locally: Colorful Stitches Fine Yarns has an informal meetup down the center of Duke of Gloucester Street in Merchants Square, Williamsburg. Check out their FB page for more details of the fun they have planned.

Here are a couple outtakes from spring GTNG General Meetings.

* Iris was awarded this year’s Joanne Pimblett Memorial Award for dedicated service to the Guild. As the GTNG Programs Chair, Iris is instrumental to locating, scheduling & registering members to our monthly learning programs. (Any member that has not completed a Program’s survey, please reach out now while the Committee is forming the next slate of classes.). Congratulations on a great year Iris and thanks for all you do to help us preserve the art of needlecraft.

* Every year GTNG accepts all donations of destashed crafting supplies for our “Sidewalk” Fundraiser. 100% of the proceeds support ongoing Guild operations. This year’s 4 table of donations made our fundraiser raffle ceremony a success and we had a boatload of fun.

* GTNG members, Carol and Cynthia were recognized and awarded for their cross stitched entries in the 63rd Annual Woodlawn Needlework Show. This year’s show accepted over 600 pieces of needlework from artists all over the world. Seeing Carol & Cynthia’s winning entries was a such a treat. Congrats ladies!

Good morning GTNG family!

A huge THANK YOU to our members, Cynthia & Norma, who have done a stellar job of maintaining this FB page since 2013. Please feel free to give them an “appreciation shoutout” in the comments or at an upcoming meeting or sit & stitch.

Tracy (membership) and Deb (publicity) are administrator & moderator of this page going forward. They are meeting over the summer on content & interactive FB processes (events, polls, etc) that encourage & simplify communication. Please comment below with any suggestions you’d like to see addressed.

Lastly, it’s Monday AND the first of June. Create something amazing this month!
