In 2011, after seeing the groundbreaking work of SISTER TO SISTER, Hakima Muhammed, visionary and founder of SISTER TO SISTER conceived the idea to establish a similar program, except one geared toward mentoring male youth.
1n 2012, Muhammed with a great group of young men from Hampton University established BROTHER TO BROTHER. On a trailblazing path as its sister program, BROTHER TO BROTHER work
s tirelessly to change the community through health fairs, family events, and a wide spectrum of volunteering. BROTHER TO BROTHER operates Saturdays under R.I.S.E., which is an abbreviation of Raising Individuals’ Self-Esteem. The program functioned on Hampton’s campus under Black Males in Motion before working independently.
