A single afternoon. Countless moments of inspiration.

This past weekend, we had the privilege of gathering an extraordinary community for The Art of Women's Leadership: In Full Bloom, an experience rooted in connection, leadership, creativity, and impact.

To everyone who attended, spoke, volunteered, partnered with us, supported our mission, or simply showed up ready to engage, thank you!.

Your presence helped create a space where ideas were shared, relationships were strengthened, stories were honored, and new possibilities took root.

As we reflect on this special gathering, we are reminded that leadership is not just about achievement. It is about cultivating community, investing in others, and creating opportunities for future generations to flourish.

These images offer a glimpse into what we experienced together, but the story continues.

In the coming weeks, we'll be sharing highlights, reflections, leadership lessons, and memorable moments from the event. We invite you to follow our page, engage with the conversation, and continue growing alongside our community.

Thank you for helping us bloom. 🌿

What does it look like to build legacy through education?

For Carolina Frempomaa Newton Pratt, it looked like planting a seed in 2007 with one student, and nurturing it into a thriving institution at Carolina International School-Ghana serving more than 1,000 pupils in Ghana today.

We are honored to welcome Carolina as a featured speaker at “The Art of Women’s Leadership: In Full Bloom,” hosted in partnership with The Chrysler Museum of Art on May 31.

As an educator, founder, and advocate for the empowerment of girls, Carolina’s leadership reflects the kind of impact that transforms communities across generations. Her commitment to staying rooted in Ghana and investing directly into young lives is a powerful reminder that meaningful leadership is cultivated through service, vision, and care.

At iamRuth Foundation, we believe women’s leadership is lived daily, and that when women and girls are supported, entire communities flourish.

Join us for this meaningful gathering at the Chrysler Museum of Art.

Time is moving quickly. We invite you to register now!

Some women give us flowers long before we realize we’re blooming.

On Sunday, May 31, the iamRuth Foundation, in partnership with The Chrysler Museum of Art, invites you to experience a powerful interpretive dance performance by Kyla Carrington during “The Art of Women’s Leadership: In Full Bloom.”

Dancing to “Flowers” by India Arie, Kyla’s performance will honor the beauty of intergenerational leadership, including how women nurture, encourage, and cultivate growth in one another across every season of life.

A Portsmouth native, alumna of the Governor’s School for the Arts, Howard University student, and member of the renowned Bisonette Dance Ensemble, Kyla brings both artistry and intention to the stage. Her journey reflects the very heart of our mission: creating opportunities for women and girls, especially women and girls of color to thrive, lead, and transform their communities.

This is more than a performance.

It is a moment of reflection, gratitude, and becoming.

✨Don’t miss this opportunity!. We would love to have you in the room.

Some conversations leave you inspired. Others leave you transformed. ✨

On May 31, in partnership with The Chrysler Museum of Art, we will gather for a powerful leadership conversation during The Art of Women’s Leadership: In Full Bloom, featuring women whose work continues to create impact across housing, economic mobility, healthcare, education, and community leadership.

Moderated by Dr. Ruth Jones Nichols, Founder and President of iamRuth Foundation, this special discussion will bring together women whose leadership journeys reflect service, resilience, compassion, and meaningful community impact:

• Michele Perez: Chief of Community Engagement and Institutional Accountability at National Community Reinvestment Coalition NCRC, with leadership experience across federal, nonprofit, and philanthropic sectors focused on equitable investment, community partnerships, and strengthening opportunities for underserved communities.

• Tina Gill: President & CEO of The Up Center, where she has dedicated more than a decade to serving children, families, and communities across Hampton Roads. With over 25 years of leadership experience spanning nonprofit, healthcare, and business sectors, Tina is known for her collaborative and grounded approach to leadership, championing mental health access, family support, and stronger community wellbeing.

• Captain Shelley Kay-Marriner: Retired U.S. Navy executive leader with 30 years of global healthcare experience, known for her commitment to healthcare leadership, mentorship, community service, and faith-centered impact. She is also the “Leading Lady” for GroveChurchVa in Portsmouth, Virginia.

At iamRuth Foundation, we believe women and girls deserve the resources, relationships, and opportunities needed to thrive across every season of life. This gathering was created to cultivate exactly that, space for reflection, dialogue, growth, and collective transformation.

⏳The countdown is officially on. THIS is the room you want to be in this Sunday!

“Faith is taking the first step even when you can’t see the whole staircase.”

Three years ago, I took a step of faith.

On May 23, 2023, I officially filed the paperwork to establish the iamRuth Foundation—a vision that had quietly lived in my heart for decades. What began as purpose planted in faith became an invitation to help ensure women and girls of color have the resources, relationships, and opportunities to thrive, lead, and transform their communities.

Since then, we have witnessed what becomes possible when vision meets community. Together, we have cultivated meaningful partnerships, strengthened organizations serving women and girls, convened leaders alongside trusted institutions, and invested in efforts advancing education and leadership, housing stability and dignity, health equity and well-being, and economic mobility—both here in the United States and, through trusted partnerships, in Africa.

This season has also been deeply personal. During my sabbatical, I have spent intentional time building—not simply programs, but infrastructure, partnerships, and a stronger foundation for the future—quietly nurturing seeds I believe will flourish for generations to come. 🌿

I still cannot see every step ahead. But like Ruth in scripture, I know what it means to move forward in faith, trusting purpose even before the full picture is visible. And just as Ruth’s story reminds us, transformation happens through community—through every Ruth and every Boaz willing to show up, sow seeds, and stand beside a vision larger than themselves.

Today, I celebrate three years of impact, growth, and unwavering faith.

To every donor, advisor, volunteer, partner, and supporter: thank you for believing in this vision and helping bring it to life. Because of you, women and girls are more deeply rooted in possibility and better positioned to flourish in every season.

The work is growing.
The vision is expanding.
And I believe the best is still ahead. ✨

Happy 3-Year Anniversary to the iamRuth Foundation!

~Dr. Ruth Jones Nichols, Founder

This is more than an event.

It is a space for reflection, connection, and becoming. 🌿

We are almost one week away from The Art of Women’s Leadership: In Full Bloom, hosted in partnership with The Chrysler Museum of Art.

During the Coast Live Show on WTKR News 3, our Founder - Dr. Ruth Jones Nichols - shared the inspiration behind iamRuth Foundation and the vision for this gathering, a celebration of the many ways women lead across every season of life. Our upcoming event this month was created with intention, and every detail reflects the beauty of women leading in full bloom.

We are excited to announce Femi Bailey, owner and creative visionary of Oniru by LeeLou, as the featured designer for the fashion showcase during The Art of Women’s Leadership: In Full Bloom on Sunday, May 31 at the Chrysler Museum of Art.

Femi is known for creating fashion that blends culture, confidence, and storytelling through thoughtfully designed pieces.

Her Botanical Blossom Collection reflects the spirit of this gathering beautifully: growth, creativity, and the courage to fully step into who we are becoming.

We would be honored to have you in the room.

Today, we honor and remember Daphne Kenon, a devoted leader, mentor, and woman of deep faith whose life reflected compassion, service, and love.

Daphne’s commitment to uplifting women and girls in her community, sorority, and through her volunteer support of iamRuth Foundation, left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She had a way of making people feel welcomed, encouraged, and grounded.

As we grieve this unexpected loss, we extend our prayers and love to her family, sorority sisters, church partners, and the many lives she touched.

We are reminded that the strength of community is not only found in celebration, but also in how we gather around one another in difficult seasons.

Thank you, Daphne, for the light and kindness you shared so freely. Your legacy will continue to bloom through the people you inspired. 🤍
