Recently, we were connected with a local resident who was facing several challenges at once. Without a car, a working microwave, or a way to prepare meals, he was facing obstacles that made daily life much harder.

After learning more about his situation, we were able to provide not only food, but also a hot plate, cooking pot, and can opener so he could prepare meals safely at home. Our incredible volunteers delivered everything directly to him and made sure the food selections matched what he was able to cook.

Stories like this are only possible because of volunteers who are willing to go the extra mile for their neighbors. Their compassion helps turn a difficult situation into one filled with hope and support.

When we came back to the pantry, we received a voicemail that said:

"I wanted to thank you all again for the wonderful support and have an excellent weekend."

We are SO grateful for the volunteers who make moments like this possible every day. That's what community is all about 💙❤️

To those of you who may not know, Rachel is our Executive Director and one of the co-founders of The Outreach Connection. She dedicated her twenties to growing The Outreach Connection into the incredible organization it is today. Did you know that one of the first things we try to give children when they visit our food pantry is a small snack bag filled with kid-friendly treats? We do our best to keep these snack bags stocked year-round so every child has a little something to keep them occupied while visiting our pantry and a few extra snacks to take home.

Filled with items like granola bars, crackers, and other kid-friendly snacks, these bags help welcome children and provide a little something extra while their families shop.

During the summer months, when many children lose access to school meal programs, we typically see an increase in families seeking assistance from our food pantry. A growing focus of our organization has been finding meaningful ways to support children and families during school breaks. We are always looking for opportunities to expand programs that help make school breaks a little easier for local families, whether through our snack bags, meal kits during school holiday breaks, or other forms of support. As the need grows, so does the importance of ensuring we have the resources necessary to continue serving our community and supporting programs like these.

On Tuesday, we had a fantastic group from Whole Foods Market come out to volunteer in both our food pantry and at 31 Threads! They received a tour of our facility, helped bundle our produce, assisted with our monthly clearance swap in the thrift store, sorted donations, and tackled other projects that needed to get done.

Their hard work and kindness made a huge difference, and we are so grateful for all they accomplished during their time with us!

Meet Maria! đź‘‹ Maria has been volunteering with us for over a year now and has been an incredible addition to our team. She assists with pantry pickups from local partners like Whole Foods, Aldi, Wawa, and ShopRite, and she also contributes great fundraising ideas, which included our successful Griggstown Farm Pie Fundraiser. Thank you, Maria, for all you do!
