Update on Gypsy. They think it's HGE (Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis) again, maybe. The vet said usually they don't see white blood cell levels as lows as hers gets, but it's been that way both times she's been admitted.
Kidney and liver functions are good and were the last time, so hopefully this isn't from Lymes. It's not common for a dog to get HGE more than once, but it does happen. The only difference this time is that when tested for Pancreatitis, it showed that it was possible, but not a positive. Getting an estimate on that to see if we can just go ahead and treat her for it, just in case. Also, hope to get her in for an ultrasound so they can see if anything is visible in her stomach and intestines.
At this point, I'd rather throw the kitchen sink at her, hoping she will get to feeling better. 24 hours ago, Gypsy was happy and go lucky, sweet self. There was no indication that she even felt bad. She ate her dinner and went to sleep just like she always does. However, sometime overnight, she must have started vomiting and diarrhea, though I didn't hear her stir at all.
We almost lost her the 7 months ago from the same thing. I'm scared that it's a possibility now also. Gypsy is very dehydrated and weak. She's getting IV antibiotics and fluids, along with meds for her stomach.
Terry took this Pic as they were waiting to be admitted. Gyspsy's temp was low and she needed to be covered up.
If youd like to help with Gypsy's bill, we could use it. You can pay the vet directly at Animal Emergency Clinic of the High Country (828) 268-2833
Thank you in advance!
