💚 NEW BLOG POST: Men's Mental Health – The Weight We Carry and Why You Don't Have to Carry It Alone

Too many men are taught to "push through" stress, trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction, and life's hardships without ever asking for help.

For many men facing poverty, homelessness, unstable housing, substance use, or mental health challenges, survival becomes the focus—but survival isn't the same as healing.

In our latest blog, we share real insights into the struggles many men face, why so many suffer in silence, and how support can help change the course of a person's life.

If you're carrying more than you let people see—or know someone who is—this is a must-read.

Did you know that Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) isn't a sign of emotional weakness? It is a biological response.

When someone goes through a deeply distressing event, the brain’s "alarm system" can get stuck in the "ON" position.

This can look like:
🧠 Flashbacks or intrusive, upsetting memories
🚫 Avoiding certain places, people, or conversations
⚡ Feeling constantly jittery, irritable, or easily startled
☁️ Persistent negative thoughts about yourself or the world

At Benevolent Family Services, we utilize evidence-based, trauma-informed care to help adults and families safely process these responses and find their footing again. From individual outpatient therapy to our structured Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), we provide a compassionate step-down or step-up in care right here in Virginia.

We accept a wide array of insurances—including Anthem, Sentara, Aetna, Humana, and Medicaid—to ensure care is accessible. 👇
