Restoring their sense of hope, and their sense of belonging. Freedom. Hope. Belonging. Freekind™ is dedicated to providing survivors of human trafficking the support they need to recover from the trauma they’ve experienced. More than that, we unleash the power of kindness to help restore the humanity stolen from them, offering grace to the most vulnerable in our communities as they regain their fr
eedom, their sense of hope, and their sense of belonging. Freekind™ exists to prevent human trafficking in our communities and to support those who have been exploited on their journey to freedom. Established in 2012, and formerly known as Virginia Beach Justice Initiative, the organization began with a focus on legislative advocacy and raising awareness of human trafficking in the Hampton Roads area. While we continue to raise awareness, our focus is on identifying victims of human trafficking who have had their freedom stolen and helping them on their journey to recovery and restoration. We also provide industry-specific training to equip the criminal justice system, businesses, healthcare providers and others to see through the eyes of the victim. And because so many of the clients we serve experienced abuse in their childhood, opening up a vulnerability that their trafficker preyed on, we offer an SOL-compliant prevention education curriculum designed for middle and high school students. Today, Freekind works with more than 140 survivors who have experienced sexual exploitation and partners with schools to bring prevention education to as many youth as possible.
