In honor of National Recovery Month, H-NNCSB is proud to celebrate the individuals whose stories inspire hope and demonstrate that recovery, wellness, and personal growth are possible.
Today, we're recognizing two incredible members of our Peer Recovery Services team:
💜 Ernest "Ernie" Jones, PRS I | Marcus Alert Mobile Crisis Response Team
Ernie is a person in long-term recovery with more than 24½ years of sobriety. After overcoming his own challenges with substance use and spending years in and out of jails and treatment facilities, he dedicated his life to helping others. For more than 23 years, Ernie has worked in prisons, halfway houses, re-entry programs, and now serves as a Peer Recovery Specialist with H-NNCSB.
"By God's grace, I'm honored to give back what was freely given to me."
💜 Delaney, Peer Recovery Specialist | Partners in Recovery
Since joining H-NNCSB in March 2026, Delaney has brought a passion for advocacy, wellness, and creating meaningful opportunities for others. Originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, she spent several years studying and living across different states and countries before making Virginia home with her husband.
While completing undergraduate research on the influence of social and structural economics on alcohol abuse among young adults, Delaney discovered her desire to create positive change through advocacy and systemic support. Over the last three years, she has focused on her own wellness journey, recognizing the importance of caring for herself while serving others.
"I hope to continue learning every day, creating opportunities for others, and making a lasting difference for the individuals with whom I work."
Thank you, Ernie and Delaney, for your dedication, compassion, and commitment to supporting individuals on their journeys. Your stories remind us that hope, resilience, wellness, and recovery can change lives.
