Members of the Hampton Roads Prostate Health Forum recently participated in a Community Health Event in Chesapeake, Virginia focused on prostate cancer that was sponsored by The Nu Delta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and the Omicron Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

HRPHF graciously accepted an invitation to partner and present. The event was held at the Buffalo Family Center in Chesapeake, Virginia.

HRPHF Executive Director Reggie Holmes and two of our board members, Dr. Ifeanyi Ani and Mr. Lawrence Davis, had an opportunity to participate as speakers and part of the event panel, sharing important experience and insights with guests.

Join Hampton Roads Prostate Health Forum on October 17th at the Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center in Newport News for a Community Health Event organized by Riverside Health in conjunction with 100 Black Men of the Virginia Peninsula.

This free event will feature prostate cancer awareness, education, early detection and many more health and wellness offerings for the whole family.

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Through initiatives like our Prostate Health Academy and participation in regional awareness and education events, we are engaging our networks with information and resources to help our community know more about prostate cancer and encourage their loved ones to take action for better health.

At the forefront of our efforts continue to be brave men we call "Warriors", survivors of prostate cancer who are alive and well enough to tell their stories because they pursued education and early detection.

Hampton Roads Prostate Health Forum was recently awarded an Equity in Action grant from the Office of Community Health, Education & Training at Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University.

The purpose of this grant is to support the launch of a regional “train the trainer” initiative called the Hampton Roads Prostate Health Academy. This program will establish a regional training platform to amplify our prostate cancer awareness and education message and expand the number of people qualified to teach basic prostate cancer information across Greater Hampton Roads.
