Give Local 757! is an annual region-wide day of giving sponsored by Peninsula Community Foundation. Hampton Roads Prostate Health Forum is proud to once again participate in this amazing celebration of philanthropy and community engagement.

The day of giving is May 5th, but our page is up and available to take donations now. If you are moved to contribute to our cause and help reduce suffering and save lives that are impacted by prostate cancer, please consider a donation to our organization. June is Men's Health Month and Hampton Roads Prostate Health Forum is proud to announce its upcoming Hampton Prostate Day of Action on June 13, 2026.

Thank you to our host partners, Queen Street Baptist Church, and, our medical partners for this event, Riverside Health. We look forward to welcoming many in the Hampton Roads community to our event where we will spread awareness, provide education and access to prostate cancer screening.

A recent pilot study found microscopic plastic particles in prostate tissue from nine out of ten men with prostate cancer, with tumor samples showing on average about 2½ times more microplastics than nearby noncancerous tissue.

The research, led by investigators at NYU Langone Health and presented at a major oncology symposium, suggests that exposure to microplastics could be a potential risk factor for prostate cancer, though scientists caution that larger studies are needed to confirm the link.
