Here is a comprehensive article about how the citizens of Mississippi persuaded the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality to deny Drax's request to be allowed to increase its pollution at its Gloster, Mississippi plant. The article is by Justin Catanoso, Professor of Journalism at Wake forest University.

Jimmy Brown has lived less than a mile from the Drax wood pellet manufacturing plant in the tiny town of Gloster in Amite County, Mississippi, since it opened in 2016. The impact on his quality of life, and often his health, was the same then as it is now. “It’s terrible,” Brown told Mongabay....

Here is a major Mongabay report filed by Justin Catanoso who is attending COP 16 in Cali, Columbia. Justin is a professor of journalism at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. CALI, Colombia – For years, at annual United Nations climate summits, forest advocates eager to draw critical attention to the scientifically dubious benefits of burning forest biomass to make energy were ignored, and their recommendations never added to official UN agendas for discussion or a vot...

Yesterday's protest outside the UK Houses of Parliament to mark International Day of Action Against Big Biomass and the first day of COP 16 of the Convention on Biodiversity was covered in alternative news outlet The Canary. We also held a simultaneous protest by the Drax supply train at Liverpool

Campaigners staged a ‘Save Nature, Stop Burning Trees’ demo beside Big Ben to call for an end to subsidies for biomass rogues like Drax

This is a hugely important policy change by the Conservative Party. While they are now the minority party, they can have a big influence on the ultimate position of the majority Labour Party. This can be a big thing for everywhere that Enviva and Drax are clear-cut logging in the US and in British Columbia and everywhere there are wood pellet plants operated by both companies impacting the health and quality of life for those impacted communities.

Claire Coutinho, the shadow net zero secretary, said that on closer examination the case for the scheme “simply unravelled”
