A lot of people in the Maine first responder community are hurting today.
Yesterday’s mass casualty incident is something that will leave a lasting impact on countless lives, families, departments, and communities. Our hearts are with the firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call to protect others. These were individuals who showed up for their communities without hesitation, knowing the risks that come with the job, and still choosing service anyway.
Behind every uniform is a human being — a parent, spouse, child, friend, coworker, teammate. Today, there are families facing unimaginable grief, departments trying to process profound loss, and first responders across the state carrying the emotional weight of what happened.
Please keep all of those affected in your thoughts. Check in on the first responders in your life. Reach out to your friends, coworkers, and crews. Sit with each other. Talk. Listen. Grieve together. Incidents like this remind us how critical peer support, mental health support, and community are within the first responder world.
Hold your people a little closer today.
