October 3rd saw a great kickoff for our monthly Kiwanis Bean Suppers. 80+ meals, plus 10, went to the Bangor Homeless Shelter. Special thanks to the HA Key Club and Friends of Kiwanis (including Orono Old Town Kiwanis) for helping out. Orono Old Town and Bangor Breakfast Club members also enjoyed the meal.

Led by outgoing Division 2 Lt. Governor, Terry Lacomb-Stevens, the Orono Old Town and Milo Three Rivers Kiwanis Clubs helped us celebrate the installation of our 2026-2027 leadership team: Curt Slininger (President), Vivian Gresser (Vice President), Jane Jarvi (Secretary), Eric Jarvi (Treasurer), and Tonya Taylor (Director).

Jane and I had the good fortune to attend the 90th Anniversary and Officer Installation at the Rockland Kiwanis Club last night. This club may be the only one in Division 2 that simultaneously installs the Key Club and Aktion Club officers. Other Division 2 clubs with members in attendance include Greater Waterville and Orono-Old Town.

Our Hampden Kiwanis Club enjoyed a busy week to start May.

At our Thursday business meeting, we hosted four interclub guests from the Orono-Old Town Kiwanis Club. We heard from two HA Key Club members about their experience at the recent Key Club Convention, where they learned about leadership and future opportunities in the Kiwanis family of organizations.

Thursday morning, three hundred dozen roses arrived for our Mother's Day Rose Sale, and after filling (132 pre-orders), we spent Friday and Saturday selling the rest to the public, and the few we didn't sell were donated to the Bangor VA Nursing Home and a local Hampden business.

We also got the reader board and banner advertising our next fundraiser with the help of Marsh Island Kitchen, the "Craft Your Draft" raffle to raise funds for the Hampden Children's Day.
