Hammonton Rotary Club donates $1,000 to support Scouting
The Hammonton Rotary Club, on May 20, made a $1,000 donation to local Scouting after hearing a presentation from Eli Willie, district executive for Jersey Shore Council of Scouting America, about the council’s Friends of Scouting campaign.
Much like the Rotary-sponsored Interact Club in high school, Scouting looks to mold young people into responsible, service-minded citizens. Willie highlighted shared Scouting and Rotary values of leadership and service, with Scouts contributing through food drives, cemetery flag placements and Eagle Scout projects.
“Rotary and Scouting have long shared a commitment to community, leadership and character development,” Willie told Rotarians. “Together, we believe in preparing the next generation to give back and lead with integrity.”
It costs approximately $300 per Scout per year to provide the full Scouting experience. Donations help cover program resources, volunteer training, insurance and camp opportunities, ensuring every youth can benefit, regardless of financial circumstances.
All donations stay in Hammonton to support local Troop 58 and Cub Scout Pack 58 in Folsom.
Members of Troop 58 and Pack 58 played a big part in the success of the Hammonton Rotary Club’s annual Winterfest last December.
