🕊️ In Memoriam: Past Sovereign Grand Master Jimmy Humphrey 🕊️

With heavy hearts, we honor the life and legacy of Brother Jimmy Humphrey, Past Sovereign Grand Master of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

A man of quiet strength and unwavering purpose, Brother Humphrey led with humility, taught with wisdom, and served with a devotion that uplifted all who walked beside him. His commitment to the principles of Friendship, Love, and Truth was not just spoken—it was lived.

May his memory continue to guide our fellowship, and may we carry forward the light he so graciously shared.

🇺🇸 Labor Day Spotlight: Bro. Samuel Gompers

This Labor Day, we honor Samuel Gompers—a towering figure in American labor history whose legacy still shapes the rights and dignity of workers today.

Born in London in 1850 and immigrating to New York City as a teenager, Gompers began his working life as a cigar maker. His firsthand experience with long hours and low wages fueled a lifelong commitment to improving labor conditions. In 1886, he founded the American Federation of Labor (AFL), championing practical gains like shorter workdays, better wages, and safer workplaces through collective bargaining. Under his leadership, the AFL grew into one of the most influential labor organizations in the country.

But Gompers’ dedication to community and fraternity extended beyond the shop floor. At just 21 years old, he and a group of friends chartered Rising Star Lodge #304 (IOOF) in New York City, where he served as its first Noble Grand and later as District Deputy Grand Master—roles that reflected his belief in solidarity, mutual aid, and moral leadership.

Gompers’ vision was clear: labor rights are human rights, and dignity at work is the foundation of a just society.
