Today our club members did some community service by loading, unloading, and spreading 4 pickup truck loads of wood chips for the First Presbyterian Church in Bath. We greatly appreciate the church for letting us have our meetings there.

Today some of our members toured Fox's Skulls & Hides. The kids learned about using beatles to clean skulls and all the steps required to fully clean and whiten a skull. They also got to see how to skin a musckrat and stretch the hide along with skinning a beaver tail. Thank you Bronson Fox for spending time and going over everything with the kids.

The catnip toys and dog pull toys that were made earlier this month have been delivered. The kids also got to tour the SPCA

The Steuben Explorers 4H Group visited this morning and brought with them toys for both the cats and dogs. Thanks for your kindness!

This week Steuben Explorers made animal toys to be donated to Finger Lakes SPCA. They learned sewing machine skills to make cat kicker toys. For the dogs they made braided fleece pull toys. Toys will be donated to SPCA at a later date.

At our last meeting, during our Christmas Party, we helped prepare luminaries for the First Presbyterian Church of Bath. The youth prepared 180 luminaries that will be put around Pultney Park on Christmas Eve.

Today's meeting the kids learned to make old fashioned ice cream. Chocolate and vanilla ice cream as well as fresh raspberry sorbet. We didn't have enough time to let it get really hard but everyone enjoyed thier ice cream sundae anyways.

Steuben Explorers members helped out with the Bath First Presbyterian Church's annual Election day Spaghetti dinner.

Steuben Explorers 4-H club members learned how to make apple cider using an antique press. Thank you to Beef Lowery and Lowery Family Farms for the apples. Each kid was able to take home some of their fresh pressed apple cider.

While making apple cider, it was a great opportunity to refine the clubs Dutch Oven Cooking skills. Chili and Apple Crisp on the charcoal and white chicken chili over the fire.

Yesterday our youth had a Memorial Day Picnic and practiced their outdoor cooking skills. Unfortunately We didn't get pictures but the kids made Lasagna, Mac and Cheese, Brookies, and cinnamon roll monkey bread all in dutch ovens. They also made campfire eclairs and of course smores over the fire. Thankfully the weather held out.

Some of our club members will be doing outdoor cooking demonstrations at the Steuben County 4-H Showcase on July 24-26 at Hendershot Haflingers.

Thank you to Betelgeuse Pottery for giving our kids pottery lessons. The kids made 2 trinket plates and a pinch pot. The kids creations will be fired, glazed, and refired. Laura also showed the kids how she throws pottery on her wheel.
