Astair wrote these words and copied them over a picture she took when she was 14 sitting in the dirt with children from an unreached tribe gathered around her. They played games together as the sun set that day and we returned again the next day for the well celebration. That night under the stars we shared The Jesus Film with them. And the next day we brought solar audio bibles with a portion of the New Testament recorded for the very first time in their clicking tonal language. For three years our family had been praying for a door to open for us to share the Gospel with this unreached tribe we had been researching. The door finally came and we made the long journey. But that day never left Astair’s heart.
She wrote these words as she was contemplating how many in the world are still waiting for someone to share the Gospel with them:
“Somewhere today, someone is living without knowing the love of God. How will they hear unless someone goes? I can’t imagine what it would be like to walk through life without knowing the love of God, without knowing that there is a Father who sees you, loves you, and wants to know you. There are people who feel alone, people who have no one to turn to, people who have never heard that they are deeply loved by their Creator. What if we went?
What if we crossed the street, crossed the city, crossed the ocean?
What if we simply said yes to Jesus and let Him love people through us? Because when we go and share the Gospel, we aren’t just giving someone a message. We’re introducing them to a Friend who will never leave them. His name is Jesus. So maybe this is your sign to go.:)”. —Astair
