“I’m Alive. And I Write: Voices from the 2019 New Orleans Writing Marathon,” will be re-broadcast by KSLU (90.9), the campus station of Southeastern Louisiana University, on Sunday, March 29, at 2 P.M. (Central Time).

The show features a dozen writers from Writing Marathons held at a five-day Writing Retreat that the Southeastern Louisiana Writing Project and National Writing sponsored last summer in New Orleans.

If you are out of radio range, simply go to KSLU’s webpage (http://www.kslu.org) to listen live over the Internet.

The show will also be archived on KSLU’s “Awards and Recognitions” webpage as “2019 Writing Marathon,” and you can hear it there (along with past Writing Project shows) at any time at this address: http://www.kslu.org/awards_recognition/index.html.

We hope you will tune in and listen to this celebration of writing, New Orleans, and writing teachers of the National Writing Project.

Director, Southeastern Louisiana Writing Project

We hope you'll be able to tune in, share it, and feel part of the marathon magic again. Dates for 2020's retreat are on hold now, but we hope you're writing and will be able to gather with us again on the other side of this.

Be well and be a writer,

Tracy

I'm pleased to announce that the Writing Marathon will be featured on NWP Radio, Thursday, July 26, 6 PM. You can access it live at the following internet address, or hear it on NWP archives after the broadcast:

https://www.nwp.org/cs/public/print/events/1093

The program was recorded on July 12, in New Orleans, in the VIP Suite of the Le Richelieu Hotel during SLWP's recent New Orleans Writing Marathon retreat.

During the hour-long program, Tanya Baker (Program Director, NWP) interviews five SLWP marathoners (Richard Louth, Tracy Cunningham, Michelle Russo, Kimberly Stuart, Marley Stuart) as well as Susan Martens (Director of Prairie Lands WP, who has written a dissertation on Writing Marathons) and Jack Bedell (Editor of Louisiana Literature and LA Poet Laureate). The program focuses on the nature of the Writing Marathon, how teachers use it, and the recent publication of a collection of Writing Marathon pieces in a special "New Orleans Writing Marathon" edition of Louisiana Literature.

A description of the event from the NWP page is copied below.

We hope you tune in at 6 P.M. Central at this address:
