Pathway

Pathway Pathway 355 Main Street
Hamlin, WV 25523
(304) 751-5515 Pathway is a house run by alcoholics, for alcoholics. We drank and drugged to fill that void.

We create experiences to learn from our negative behaviors. We address the underlying issues of low self-esteem, irresponsible behavior, manipulation, and a non-caring attitude that created our addiction by using the principles of the 12-step program. We believe that the main issue that contributes to alcoholism and drug addiction is an inner void that makes us feel irritable, restless and discont

ent. The four underlying issues of alcoholism and addiction are: (1) low self-esteem (2) irresponsibility (3) manipulation and (4) a non-caring attitude. We have shared two common enemies: addiction and lifestyle. We have all disappointed our loved ones and ourselves. We know what it is like to feel afraid, hurt, helpless, lonely, and ashamed. We have done this to ourselves. At Pathway we share two common goals: sobriety and a healthy lifestyle. We come to accept responsibility for our emotions and behavior. Here, we gain insight into ourselves and our past actions. We stand up with courage, hope and perseverance. There are many different motivations for coming to Pathway such as probation, parole, courts, or family. We believe, however, that somewhere along the way it must become the individual’s decision. Once a person becomes willing to be honest and open-minded he can then build a foundation of clean living. We supply the spiritual tools to stay clean and have a joyous life. Many of us have child support obligations, court fees and other expenses. We encourage responsibility. One of the ways we do this is by practicing new behavior. In this way we help each individual practice this new way of life. OUR MISSION

Pathway is a voluntary fellowship home that provides transitional living, free from drugs and alcohol. We offer affordable, safe, clean and sober housing for recovery. We use a self-help peer support approach to recover from alcoholism and addiction. Pathway is an alcohol and drug free environment where we live together in a structured environment. We believe that people can change, and our environment facilitates that change. The Pathway approach encourages residents to grow by having a nurturing environment. We support positive thinking and changed values. We learn to live life with good decisionmaking and sound principles. At Pathway, one of our main objectives is to practice personal responsibility. We believe that by practicing these life skills while living our new way of life we will be better equipped to move forward. Our goal is to promote change and help residents create a responsible drug and alcohol free life in the community when they move on. At Pathway:

we come to accept responsibility for our emotions and behaviors;
We realize that we have disappointed our loved ones and look at our role in the family chaos;
we understand the feelings of fear, hurt, helplessness, loneliness, and shame;
we come to realize that we have done this to ourselves, and we illuminate;
these issues so we can be the healthy person we long to be; and
we develop courage, hope, and perseverance. REQUIREMENTS FOR RESIDENTS
